Great features and value

Overall very happy with my lease of the Hyundai ionic 5. And if there's a call on it's the mobile app for Android seems very basic and difficult to maneuver

favorite work vehicle to date

I look forward to driving my new 2025 Ionic 5 for work as a home health worker. It is smooth, has great acceleration, the seat is extremely comfortable for my longer drives. I love the lane centering feature as well. The moon roof is another favorite feature.

Excellent bare-bones EV

Not too many extra features. Just the necessary stuff, even physical controls for many things. Drives well, works well, I am very satisfied.

What fun driving my Ioniq 5!

Driving an all electric car is so fun! The car is so smart it tells me when I need a charge and Bluelink tells me where to charge. Plus it’s such a “perky” ride. And way roomier than my last hybrid car.

No compromise for the future

This vehicle exceeds my expectations. There are some minor quality issues, but I am very happy with the performance of this vehicle. Starting with the good, since I have free charging at work and solar at home. I pay little to nothing for charging my EV. The gas savings itself nearly offsets the lease payments I make for this vehicle. The performance although a heavy vehicle and a meager 225HP on paper is more than enough for everyday driving. The creature comforts included in my Limited trim spoil me and I find myself taking short naps in the car using the relaxation driver's seat and utility mode. I love how physical buttons and a true dashboard is included instead of forcing drivers to perform nearly all functions through the center touchscreen like other competitors do. The space is ample for truck space and have not often needed to even drop the second-row seats to accommodate capacity. Driving range is adequate and can almost get by with charging once a week akin to refueling an ICE vehicle. On to some of the not so great things. Driving off the lot, I encountered issues with the drive side camera where it was intermittently failing. The dealer also did not include a NACS to J1772 adapter, which having an EV vehicle for the first time, I got confused with using the DCFC adapter which obviously does not work for L2 charging. Without the adapter (until the dealer shipped me the adapter), I was forced to use the L1 plug charger and this was hit-or-miss charging in frustration where it would not charge or later disconnect. The 225hp motor is more than adequate in daily driving, but it does not raise your heartbeat and I wish it had a little more power for some fun. The rear seat back stitching is also crooked and lead to questions of quality control but since the defect is only visible from the truck I'm not too concerned, especially since this is a lease. The included wireless phone charger almost guarantees overheating (in summer time) and I've found myself just turning off this feature. I wish it had active cooling or reduced power so as to not overheat my phone. I've read so much about the ICCU issues online and am still concerned whether I may encounter this issue as well. Since this is a catastrophic failure and can happen anytime, anywhere on a 1 -week old or 3 year old vehicle this has to be the biggest concern for owners of this vehicle. But overall, I have enjoyed driving this vehicle and am happy with the value it brings. Overall, I have very happy with this vehicle and

I love driving without gas and the charging is easy with tesla chargers. Lots of features, still figuring out what they all are and am pleasantly surprised when I discover a new one!

Amazing Car with One Major Caveat

I am super satisfied with the Ioniq 5. It is incredibly well-designed and rides like a dream. The one drawback is the Lane Following Assist, a safety feature. It activates the eye sensor, which is designed to warn of inattention while driving. Apparently, my glasses or position, probably prescription glasses, cause the eye sensor to create a continuous light and sound show of dire warnings. it is a shame not to be able to take advantage of a useful safety feature, but I assure you that I have no trouble controlling the car without it and I am far less safe with the constant warnings, which are truly distracting my driving. It is astounding that this feature was rolled out without a proper vetting. I know that the internet is littered with complaints about it. Fortunately, there is a similar function with the car that does not activate the eye sensors. Even with this incoherent feature, the car is a STRONG 5 star vehicle.

Superb updates to an already excellent EV

I test drove a 2024 Ioniq 5 during the research phase for my next vehicle purchase, and was impressed. I had never driven a car that fell so smooth on the road, nor been in a cabin so quiet. The infotainment system was top notch, even better than some of the luxury EVs I had test driven. When I was finally ready to purchase a new car, I went on a hunt for the latest iteration, the newly updated 2025 Ioniq 5. I ended up having to go out of state to find the one I wanted, a Limited Trim in Digital Teal. I am stunned by how much better just the mid-cycle updates to this model are! The new CCNC infotainment system is more intuitive, snappier, and feature rich. The buttons on the console are a nice upgrade over the touch panel buttons (though some still exist). Even though most updates are considered minor, all the tweaks together made it feel like a second generation model. I still haven't found a car, even on the EV side, that feels as good as driving this one. In curves, on straights, over hills or rough terrain, this car feels superbly balanced, compliant, and eager to tackle the road. As for charging and range, I am getting what I expected there given how spirited I tend to drive. When I am conscientiously trying for efficiency, the car again complies and I am able to squeeze a good 220 miles of mixed driving range (keeping charge at 20-80%).

Perfect car for Colorado

After driving an EV without AWD for 3 years, even though I loved it, the vehicle just was useless in snow. Even after installing snow tires, it couldn’t ascend a moderate hill with 1-2 inches of snow. So I traded it in on the Ionic 5 with AWD and know it will be more satisfactory in winter. I frequently drive over a mountain pass which crosses the Continental Divide at 11,300 ft and it drives like a dream. I feel safe and enjoy the easy to use ‘bells and whistles.’

My Ionic 5

Comparing it to my last car, a Tesla model Y, the ride is much smoother, the seats are more comfortable, and the electronics are easier to manage. And I can get into the glove box single-handedly without going to the computer. The storage space is not quite as good but I had so much with the Tesla, stuff got lost, so the Hyundai works for me. And it’s not associated with Elon Musk. That is huge for me and my spouse likes it better as well.

regret the purchase

The major issue is the horrible and dangerous handling issue that has developed with the car since mile 500. Driving downhill and especially on curves the car is unstable and pulls forward and back. It's very disconcerting and I wish I could return the car. I have lost so much money on this car now that it has lost almost 20K in value since purchase. To top it all off the dealership has been dismissive of the reported issue and lack and courtesy in dealing with it as there is no "recall".

Features and performance

Back seat reclining and heating facility are really great which I was wishing for in my prior cars., wipers are not that effective in it. In addition, regen is not that effective. Sometimes from level 3 to ipedal max it’s not that effective. Also customer support from the dealership end needs way improvement.
