Fun car for city driving

Not my first Hyundai--third, actually--but first subcompact. It's roomier and more comfortable than expected. Solid build quality, although it's been dinged in reviews for being a "tsunami of unpadded plastic," and the tech is incredible and all neatly set out on an integrated display that is low and doesn't look like someone glued an iPad to the dash like so many current cars. I haven't had issues with syncing up CarPlay and iPhone like we did on my wife's Santa Fe. Having the shifter as another stick off the wheel assembly is definitely a choice, but one you get used to pretty quick. The engine is underpowered, struggling with harder accelerating and highway passing, but that's endemic to this class and I knew that going in--was just looking for something to get to work with and an occasional road trip. Seems to suck down gas a little faster than my previous Sonata. And the open-style front between-seat console is another adjustment--can't hide stuff like hand cleaner or tissues/napkins--and without a rubber base your keys or whatever you put there might slide around on turns. But the two generous and retractable cupholders make up for it. All in all, this may be may favorite Hyundai so far.

N Line

I was disappointed in the N Line in two important features on the driver’s screen. First you put the speed over in the left circle, which is behind the steering wheel and hard to see at a glance, with no way to move it to the center. Really poor design. Next, I realize this is a N line and not a limited but there is no cruise control adjustment as you approach a slower vehicle. That really is dangerous, and should be a feature in every Hyundai, not matter what model.

New 2025 Kona

This is the first car I had bought in 14 years, as I used to drive a 6 cylinder Nissan Altima which I loved and put over 185,000 miles. I really like the heating and cooling system and the AM/FM/Sirius XM radio with HD radio. I really like the handling of the vehicle, sitting up what seems like a foot higher than what I used to drive, and the different safety features. I can't get the cruise control to work; I'm going to have to go back to the dealer and have them show me. This car comes with gear shifting, even though it is an automatic, which is useful if you drive in places like Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Gas mileage is OK; nothing great, but pretty good. Overall I rate this 5 stars.

Not My Favorite

Having owned many cars, I have to say this one is not my favorite. The drive/transmission is odd, the cruise control does NOT keep the speed consistent, the dings/notifications are frequent and not always obvious: from headlights to gas refills to coffee suggestions. Honestly I'm glad I'm leasing and not buying this car. It's nice and new, so I appreciate the low maintenance, but I don't love this car.

Kona 2025

Love the Kona! Too many bells and whistles and the car yells at me alot. Lol! Using the voice command is annoying. Doesn't always follow your commands or ends it short but I can deal. Rides smooth except in the 40 to 47 mph range, it feels rougher (bumpy). Otherwise, overall great car.
