Very pleased with the Santa Fe

This is the second Santa Fe and the 4th Hyundai in the family. A big difference from the SE that we traded in.

My car

Hate that sometimes car won’t move without driver having seatbelt on. In emergency would be bad. Also, child lock button on door rest and gets hit often accidentally and no way to turn it off permanently!

Love everything but the cockpit…..

No place to put your stuff unless it’s a cup. The spot that is available is under the console and hard to reach. Feels cramped. No garage door opener on the mirror. Sport mode was supposed to make it feels like a 6-cylinder - and doesn’t….

Overall, the car has performed well. We are having some issues with the driving range indicator as it does not change when filling my gas tank to full. Perhaps a sensor is corrupt.

VERY NICE, BUT

After approx one year with my Santa Fe, it went into a "low power mode", it would not go faster then 30mph. Thankfully, I was not on a freeway. I pulled off the road, turned the motor off and restarted. The car operated fine. The service dept said bring it in asap. They kept the car for approx 2 weeks "for parts", but gave me a new Santa Fe hybrid loaner which I appreciated. This could have been a very dangerous situation.

engine shut off and override button are reversed

Having the engine stop at each intersection should be a selection, and something I have to override. It is just the opposite on the vehicle. The push-button transmission selection is a safety hazard. I have had the car for two years, and I have yet to select an option without looking directly at the keys. Positives I am fond of: the rear-view camera; when I use the turning signal, the back camera shows what is behind me, the rear deck warning when it is not closed
