For such an expensive vehicle, could use some improvements.

Good SUV, Could be great with some improvements. Needs complete integration with both Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Too much trouble switching between built in Nav system and Google or Apple. Doesn't need power steering above about 20 MPH. Would handle much better. Still a lovely SUV to drive (and the performance model is scary fast). Also could use automatic air adjustable suspension.

Has been in the shop since I got it

I got this car brand new, Calligraphy trim, in April. It is August 5th and has been in the shop for 75% of that time. Hyundai is refusing to properly adjudicate for lemon law or tell me their findings. All the while I'm paying an 700+ dollar lease. Do not buy this car.

Great Value, Reliable, Comfortable

I truly have no complaints about this car. It's roomy, very comfortable, has great performance, and has had no issues in the 3 months that I've had it. I guess I wish there was another set of cup holders in the front seat, but that's about it!

No regrets switching from Tesla to Hyundai EV

Beautiful functional and comfortable. Love it to the max! Very spacious/roomy. Powerful power train. No regrets trading in my very poorly built Tesla for a very well built Ioniq 9 I thought it would be a downgrade from the Tesla but it is actually an upgrade and cheaper.

The car's Charging Cable has broken 2 times.

May people have the same problem. We bought a new manufacturer's cable for $486. You should pay us $486 because your cable did not work.

2026 Ioniq 9 review

Smooth, comfortable, and responsive performance. Luxurious accommodations and a long list of amenities. A pleasure to drive whether just for an errand or for a longer trip. So far charging has been without challenge. Its biggest drawback: SiriusXM reception is annoyingly bad and must improve. But that said, a few months in, my Ioniq 9 has been a very enjoyable vehicle.

I like the build quality and room size, but lacking many features like Carwash mode & indicator off after lane change. After sale service is very bad.

Everything But One Detail

Everything but one detail is perfect. Not enough to deter me or anyone else from buying the Ioniq. Its the cupholders. The ones in the front kinda latch onto bottles unless they are the same width from top to bottom, any kind of flair like coke bottles and they could be tough to pull out. The cupholders on the doors could be a little deeper for larger yetis, stanleys, coldest, etc... They could be a little top heavy and on take off could come right out of those cupholders.

Everything you need for a family electric SUV

The I9 as everything you would need for a family SUV. The fact that it is an electric is what makes it stand out amongst its competition. It does have a love it or hate design but I have only received compliments in public; quite a few people have come up to discuss it in parking lots. I would give it a full 5 star review if not for one issue I experienced; an ICCU failure. Hyundai covered everything and got it replaced in several days but it was still a problem.

Wonderful Vehicle!

Coming from driving a Honda since 2008, this Hyundai Ioniq 9 is a literal dream. It's also our first ever all electric vehicle, and we are loving that as well. I love the smoothness, gracefulness, luxuriousness, and style of this vehicle. Everything that you can think of, for the most part, has been thought of by somebody and integrated within the features of this vehicle. It is absolutely fantastic, and I look forward to driving it for the next three years. I only have a few things I would change: a convenient spot to put sunglasses, more cupholders for the driver and passenger, and a pinch more space in the third row. Otherwise, this vehicle is absolutely amazing in all aspects, and I highly recommend it.

I love the Ioniq 9 and Hyundai's support of it

The car provides a smooth ride, quiet, and with a sense of safety unmatched by the Mercedes and BMWs I have owned in the past. It gives passengers and excellent experience with supportive, heated captain's chairs in the second row and we have found it more than adequate size to haul our Bernese Swiss Mountain dog on long trips. The support by Hyundai with on line manuals and (most of all) a lot of videos has been really helpful.

Love the car, software a problem

Most recent software update requires the vehicle not be in a building underground garage if you wish to use your phone in lieu of carrying the enormous key fob, which formerly was able to do. I park the car, lock it and leave. When I return the car remains locked. The Hyundai app won’t unlock the because the car is being “driven”.

Features I wish it had that I thought it had

There are many things that I like about the ioniq 9, and they are several I thought were standard but now wish maybe I got a different manufacturer. First is the fact it doesn’t know who the driver is unlocking the car. I have to change the seat every time because my wife is half my size. Two, it doesn’t lock automatically after I leave the vehicle. I have to lock it. Also, it doesn’t always unlock or lock when I am next to it. I have to press several times. Third, it doesn’t work well with commercial charging. I have to attach it 3-4 times besides it can be recognized. Not fun in freezing weather. Fourth, the fingerprint doesn’t always work, and it requires me to reset it every few months. I took my vehicle into the dealership to address all of these and they said Hyundai didn’t have answer and they can’t be fixed.
