A bargain
I have a base Boxster 5 speed. Everyone wants an S. I think the base is more fun. The smaller displacement revs quickly. It reminds me of an early 70’s 911. The smaller motor seems less likely to have bore scoring or IMS failures from what I have read. In addition, the 5 speed seems to have less issues than the 6 speed, with broken 2nd gear and rare sources for parts. If you like a sweet chassis without necessarily having the fastest car, it’s for you.
I personally prefer a fixed roof, but the Cayman is considerably more expensive than the Boxster on the used market, which makes it a bargain if you want most of the performance of a Cayman without the price.
