Tesla Model Y Good as New
Terrible to terrific in 2 weeks. Thank you Auto Beauty Specialists (ABS). Pete Gavornik, Colonel (Ret.), USAF, new Tesla Model Y owner.

A TERRIBLE TERRIBLE day. In a blink, deer jump in front of my pride-&-joy new 2026 Tesla Model Y. Faster than I could react—but not quite fast enough—auto-brake engaged max braking. BAM! Fairly low speed (guessing 5-10 mph impact on driver’s side front quarter. Deer limped off. Bumper, lights, quarter panel, crumpled. Driver cried.

A PROMISING day. Mike at ABS—one of only 4 Tesla certified collision centers in greater St. Louis metropolitan area—looking at pictures I had just emailed (no need to go in for an initial estimate) said over the phone, “Normally 1-to-4 days for parts, 1-to-2 weeks for repairs. Drop it off next Monday. We’re a USAA Insurance Co. approved and will handle all insurance paperwork.” Sounded good to me. USAA approved means all repairs are guaranteed for life by both ABS and USAA. Mike also said he’d keep me well informed every step of the process, answer all questions, and ABS would handle all back-&-forth with USAA common with Tesla repairs.

PROMISE kept and then some. Tear-down. Component inspections. Parts replacement. Paint prep and finish. Systems calibration. Software updated to latest. Test drive. Ready for pickup call. Mike’s text updates and Q&A calls (I had many questions—that car is my pride and joy) convinced me ABS customer service is stellar. Second to none.

WONDERFUL WONDERFUL day. Greeted by Mike and shop manager Kenny, we walked to delivery staging together. There it sat. My pride and job. As sparking, detailed, and flawless inside and out as the day Tesla sold it to me. Confirmed by my personal inch-by-inch inspection. One more thing. During conversation with Kenny, I mentioned that our local Dobbs recently repaired a nail puncture flat but could not do the free alignment check because they had not yet received alignment specs for 2026 Model Ys. The next day a text from Kenny had 2026 Model Y alignment specs attached. Dobbs was thankful. I couldn’t be happier with ABS workman ship and 2nd to none customer service.
