Check engine light diagnosis and repair

I have been a customer of this business for several years and they have been my go to place for all of the servicing and repairs for my car from oil changes to major repairs including a transmission replacement.

I have always been satisfied with their work and their complimentary UBER rides for the drop off and picking up of my car when it's necessary has been a welcome perk for me because I only have one car and most of the time, no one is available to pick me up and bring me back when the work on my car is finished.

This last job left me disappointed however. The source of my disappointment isn't the quality of the work, but in the time that it took to get the job done and my car back. Also, the communication as to what was going on during the process could have been better.

I called on Monday morning of that week to set up a time to bring my car in to address the check engine light issue and we mutually agreed that I would bring my car in at 10:00 on Thursday morning which was 3 days in advance. I got the car there at the agreed upon time and was told that they would not be able to get to the diagnosis right away and they called me an UBER to take me home to wait on it. All well and good.

When it got late in the afternoon, I hadn't heard from them, I called them and was told that they hadn't been able to get to it and that they would have to keep it overnight and get to it the next day. That day went by, I hadn't heard from them and called them as it was getting toward the end of their work day which was on Friday.

Apparently, they hadn't done anything with it by then and they told me that they would have to get to it on Monday and keep it over the weekend, which left me without the use of my car for 5 days counting the weekend .

That is unacceptable. In my opinion the work on my car, which turned out to be diagnosing the check engine light code and replacing one solenoid on the top of the engine block should have been a one day job at the most, especially since I had an appointment to do it 3 days in advance.

In addition, I got overcharged for replacing a second solenoid which wasn't needed, but they promptly caught that error the next day and refunded the difference to my credit card. Mistakes are made, they promptly corrected it, so that's all good.

I'm sorry that I wasn't able to give a 5 star review and I hope that this experience is a rare exception and not the start of a new pattern.
