Starter Replacement
I left my car in their overnight drop off knowing that my starter was out and asking for pricing on replacing it. I got a call the next day that they thought I should replace the starter and the battery and it would cost around 450-500 for parts on both and 1250 overall to install. I thought this price was ridiculous so had my car towed to another local shop. They still charged me 170 dollars for a "diagnostic" and while my car started and I was able to drive it there, it was returned to me without the ability to start. When I asked if they would install a part I bought they said they couldn't and my only option was to buy their overpriced part for the "warranty". Anyhow I was able to buy the part for half the cost and have a local family shop install it for 340 dollars, Ray's commercial garage, they also told me my battery was fine which turned out to be true. So 450 overall instead of 1250. Unfortunately I paid 630 overall because before I went to an honest shop I had to pay a 170 dollar extortion payment to get my car in a worse condition then I gave it in. Car is working better then ever now.

Dear Colin,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

When a vehicle is dropped off, our standard procedure is to first diagnose the concern before performing any repairs. In your case, we were informed that you suspected an ignition-related issue. Once the diagnosis is complete, we contact the customer by phone or text to explain our findings, review the recommended next steps, and obtain approval before proceeding.

Regarding your concern about customer-supplied parts, our policy is to use only parts provided by our shop. This allows us to protect our customers and offer a nationwide parts and labor warranty of 2 years or 24,000 miles. In the past, we have experienced issues with customer-purchased parts being incorrect or defective out of the box. In those situations, the customer would be responsible for the cost of repeating the repair, as neither the parts nor labor would be covered under warranty.

We’re glad to hear that you were able to have the issue resolved elsewhere. Please know that we take pride in doing what’s right for every customer, being transparent about vehicle concerns, and clearly communicating repair costs. We hope you’ll consider giving us a call in the future—we’d be happy for the opportunity to assist you.

Sincerely,
Mark Evans
