Terrible. Incompetence or fraud.
Gross incompetence at best. Possible purposeful fraud at the service department. I was given 4 separate quotes to replace a head gasket on a 2013 Sonata with 64,000 miles ( yeah that's another reason to avoid Hyundai ). The first from Rachel was $2200. Ok great. I call back to get an exact price and 'oh no sir it's going to be $7000'. The $2200 was a quote for a new water pump which the car doesn't need. Obviously I'm not going to pay that. So I get there to pick up the car after making arrangements to get it fixed elsewhere and was told the $7000 quote was for a new engine. Again something I don't need. After talking to them and them consulting the main mechanic we agreed on $3100 with it possibly being several hundred less. We shook hands on it. So they call me today and tell me that was wrong and it's going to be $3700 or more because they 'calculated the labor wrong'. That sounds like textbook fraud. Get a customer to agree at a lessor price then raise it at the last minute. I'm sure it works on a large percentage of people. Not me. Avoid these idiots. 4 quotes and 2 of then weren't even for the job. Then a last minute price increase.
