Unethical Service Department
We recently moved to the area in 2023. We decided that we would take our 2016 Hyundai Sonata to the dealership to have it's regular maintenance performed. The last time we were in for the oil change and checkup, they upsold us on a cabin filter and engine air filter. They also told us that we would be needing a brake job done soon. It wasn't time for my car to be serviced again, but my intuition told me to check the oil level before we left on a road trip to Springfield. Keep in mind, according to the windshield maintenance sticker, we still had well over 2k left before the vehicle was due for it's next oil change. Also keep in mind that this car is for pleasure use only and is not a daily driver and it is always garaged and well maintained. When we went to check the oil level prior to the trip, we discovered that they hydraulics that keep the hood up were not even working. Something they didn't even inform us of during our visit to the dealership, yet they upsold me on air filters??? We checked the oil and it was well below the normal range.. I called a local mechanic right away, since we had the road trip the following day. They got us in and we discovered that they had not replaced the air filters sold to us and from what we can tell, they DID NOT PREFORM THE OIL CHANGE, either. The fact that they didn't mention the hood not staying up, kind of proves that they did not do any of the maintenance they charged us for. The new local mechanic also told us that our Sonata DOES NOT NEED A BRAKE JOB, EITHER. My belief is, they want the car we have to develop issues due to poor maintenance and sell us yet another vehicle. We did buy this Sonata used from Fletcher's Toyota lot. I WOULD NOT USE THIS DEALERSHIP FOR YOUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT OR ANY MAINTENANCE OF YOUR VEHICLE EVER.
Try to remember, they have skin in on your auto malfunctioning so they can sell you another car. It's best if you go else where for routine maintenance or repairs.
We had planned on trading in the Sonata and buying a new Toyota, but they just lost that sale and any further business from us.
I hope this post prevents others from being duped.
