I remember this vehicle. It's regrettable that you see your experience this way. We always do the best to provide a superior experience and service. At the time that this vehicle was in our facility, there was no indication of trouble or malfunction with the keyless entry system(s). You are correct, this technology isn't a new technology. And, we have a exuberant amount of experience in diagnosis and repair of these systems. The vehicle's entry systems were operating as intended at the time it was in for repair. This is why there was a call placed to ascertain if the keys (FOB) may possibly be in a bag or purse that could have other items that interfere with it's transmission to the vehicle. I only wish to state that I do geniunely try to solve all customer problems. And, when they aren't present, we will never use someone's pocketbook as a dart board to throw parts at something. One of our motto's is "The most expensive repair you can make is the one you didn't have to make". In regards to the battery dying, There can only be speculation. I can tell you that we check batteries, starters, and charging systems for proper operation as part of our check-in procedure. When your Lincoln arrived, we didn't have a bad (or Fail) reading on the battery at all. Understand that we can only attest to things that work (or don't) during the time they are at our facility. And, we can't predict when a part (or parts) will fail. As the vehicle was in a state that it could be started without assistance and drive away, I can positively state that the battery was working/operating while here. If there is anything we can do to help or explain things in a better way, I'd absolutely love to do so.
