What we agreed to:
Down payment: $6000
Term: 24 months
Miles: 12000/yr
Model: 2025 GV70 Prestige
Monthly payment: $375
Trade in value (for 2023 Tesla model Y): 30,000
Initial trade in offer we received for our car was ~$26000. We asked to get a better value and after some back & forth, trade value of $30000 was agreed. We did have ~$25500 loan remaining on our car. So, I even told the sales rep who gave us test drive that lets ensure we get $30,000 on tesla coz that'll help us with down-payment.
Without asking us or evening informing us, Charles applied additional $4500 of trade in value towards the MSRP of the car. We only caught this when right before leaving I asked how we'll receive the balance of trade in value. Charles clarified what he had done.
I asked him, "...so basically we are putting down $~10500?"
He goes, "yes basically you are!"
I told him that's not what we agreed on and this makes a big difference. Charles just says "..its our bad that we didn't inform you before. If you want you can just back out."
We absolutely backed out but this whole experience was pathetic. We had gotten super excited of walking out with a car that we loved (had even signed everything and paid $6k downpayment), deal that worked for us. But this behavior of Charles of trying to scheme us is just not right.
