Missing Key
My car was towed to Healey when the engine failed for a second time in January 2026. The car was towed to the dealership and I waited a week to follow up on the status. They said they never received the key and had not been aware that the car was on the lot. I had to bring them my remaining key for the vehicle to be diagnosed. The tow company assured that the key had been dropped off. Healey was going to charge 1000 to replace the lost key. The engine was replaced and when I returned in June for re-inspection of my vehicle, the service representative told me that my key had been found. My repair had been needlessly delayed and my key lost for 5 months, with no offer of compensation. My mother-in-law called and asked to speak to the GM. He never called back. We eventually spoke with an assistant service manager and she continued to blame the tow company despite the key being in their possession. They eventually offered a one time oil change. The service manager advised that we should be happy for the covered repair, recognize human error and understand that the conversation would not have happened if the service representative hadn’t been honest and had thrown out the key. Customers count on a dealership to be honest and professional. They took the key, lost it for 5 months and then a member of their management said that if they had just thrown away the key, basically they would not be liable for any compensation. The tow company said that the dealership loses keys regularly. I’m stunned by the shear audacity of that statement.
