I called Jake’s place to give me a quote to mount and balance 4 new tires supplied by me. The quote was $40.00 per tire. I came to the shop to get the tires mounted and balanced.I was informed that I had one stripped stud an a spring missing on my left rear drum brake assembly. I am a mechanic and just installed the new rear brakes with all new spring hardware and wheel cylinders, therefore, I know it was not the truth. The stripped stud is questionable after this dishonesty. I was told that there will be no charge for the spring. The total bill was $363.00. A total of $203.00 more than quoted. When I questioned the cashier about dramatic increase because the labor cost almost as much as I paid for the tires. I was told by the cashier “You should have bought the tires from us”. I will never do business at this shop again. The are dishonest, unethical and unprofessional. I rate this business at a 1 because a 0 was not an option.
