After a routine oil change, Kia of Duluth failed to properly secure the drain plug. Weeks later, while driving on a busy highway with my child, the plug fell out. White smoke poured from the car. We thought it was going to catch fire. We stood in the cold, far from the vehicle, while emergency services responded.
Another Kia dealership confirmed the plug was missing and the engine had no oil. They stated it was highly likely a service error—not a maintenance or warranty issue. These plugs don’t just fall off unless they’re not torqued properly.
Kia of Duluth caused over $10,000 in damages and showed zero accountability. No apology. No concern for our safety. Instead, they tried to blame me for not noticing oil leakage. I did not notice any leakage.
After I said I’d file a complaint if needed, the store manager stopped responding.
This was dangerous, expensive, and handled with complete disregard. Stay far away.
