What a horrible experience! If you're looking for transparency, this is not the place for you! I took my daughter to look at a used 2015 Hyundai. I asked how old the tires were and I was told that they were new, look at the tread. I told them that old tires can rot from the inside, and that would not affect the tread. We know Virginia inspection will pass tires based on tread. They brought a manager out to speak with me, and when I asked him how old the tires were, he simply said “no idea”. I should’ve walked out then, but I explained the DOT stamp and the four numbers after and even offered to show a picture so they could identify the age of the tire! He sent someone out who gave me a number which wasn't the date but the type of tire. He went back out again and not only were the tires old, they were older than the car! This 2015 Hyundai had tires from 2012. Although Carfax reported no accidents, it was clear that this car had sustained some trauma. It vibrated when we took it for a test drive. Honestly, I have to wonder if the pictures that they showed of the car on their website was a different car entirely.
I know buying a used car you're not going to get perfection, but you should at least get something you can safely drive off the lot and not worry about a tire blowout! That is just one of many many things that were wrong with that car that was not listed. But what was worse than the car was there dismissive and rude attitude. Maybe because I'm a woman and I wasn't focused on how nice and clean the trunk was (seriously, they kept pushing how clean the interior was, which doesn't really matter if the exterior is going to fall off now, does it?). They texted me that evening to explain how they priced the car and why it was a great deal. Safety is not negotiable.
