Hello Mr. Boyd, I hope all is well. The vehicle was diagnosed by us, and we provided you with multiple options regarding how you wanted to proceed with the repair. Your extended warranty only offered partial coverage, meaning it did not cover the entire final repair cost. The price provided to you included parts, labor, diagnosis, and the deductible paid by the customer.
Regarding the receipt, one was provided to you after the work was completed, including a breakdown of the work performed and the associated charges.
I’m sorry that you felt uncomfortable during our phone conversation. That was never my intention. I will acknowledge that I was being very direct during our conversation, but this was after an extended discussion where we were going back and forth regarding the repair, warranty coverage, pricing, and how you wanted to proceed. My intention was to be straightforward and make sure you understood your options, not to make you feel threatened or disrespected.
I also want to clarify the comparison regarding repair times. There is no engine/motor that can simply be physically removed from a vehicle and replaced in 2–3 hours. Engine removal involves disconnecting numerous electrical connections, fluids, exhaust components, mounts, accessories, and other components, followed by installation and testing. Repair times vary significantly depending on the vehicle and the work being performed.
I would also like to clarify the statement regarding a “200% markup.” That is not an accurate representation of how the final price was calculated. The total quoted to you was not simply the cost of the parts with a 200% markup added. The final amount reflected the parts, labor, diagnostic time, and the customer’s warranty deductible, along with the associated costs of completing the repair. Comparing our total repair invoice directly to an individual parts price from AutoZone or another retailer does not provide an accurate comparison.
