Horrible follow through!
I have been a 7-time repeat customer of Lehigh Valley Hyundai, which makes my most recent experience—and especially my interaction with General Manager Iad—extremely disappointing.
After a horrible experience with members of his staff, I expected the General Manager to take the situation seriously and make a genuine effort to retain a longtime customer. Initially, Iad offered to purchase my vehicle. He later called me back and told me to “take the Carvana.com offer and run with it.”
When I expressed my frustration, his response repeatedly came back to “it’s just business.” The conversation eventually became argumentative rather than productive.
What was perhaps most frustrating was his proposed solution: essentially, let me sell you another new vehicle at a great price. He also questioned why I would let a “5% bad experience” outweigh the “95% good experience” I had previously had with the dealership.
That completely misses the point.
When someone has purchased from your dealership seven times, loyalty should mean something. A longtime customer bringing a serious concern to the General Manager shouldn't feel dismissed with “it’s just business” and then be presented with an opportunity to buy yet another vehicle.
I wasn't looking for special treatment. I was looking for accountability, professionalism, and some indication that seven transactions and years of loyalty actually mattered.
Apparently, when things are going well, you're a valued repeat customer. When there is a problem, “it’s just business.”
After seven vehicles, that is a disappointing way for this relationship to end.
