I quickly eliminated a used engine (junkyard) throwing good money after bad. After some research I found that a remanufactured engine would be a better investment especially one with a warranty. I arrived at Jasper Engines. Not only because of a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty, but because they sell only through a network of installers. It means that they want their engines to succeed.
With the list of installers from Jasper in my area (Broward county Florida), I reviewed their websites.
That's how I found Marty's Automotive.I called and spoke to Marty the proprietor. I immediately had a good feeling. I explained my project he clearly outlined what would be required. As an engineer I can tell when I'm getting an honest technical explanation. Marty knows his stuff. I know this because of his detailed review of the process. There is more than just the engine swap. For example, the air conditioning system has to be disassembled and then later reassembled and recharged. Many parts from the old motor have to be transferred to the new motor. All of his explanations led me to believe that he was well experienced with the process and then I was in good hands. I have not been disappointed. During the engine swap they carefully observed all the parts being transferred from the old engine to the new and made sure any parts which were not in good condition such as gaskets, spark plugs and ignition coils, should be replaced . Those kind of details can be the difference between a good running car and a bad running car. It can also mean the difference between holding to the estimate and overrunning it. This is where I appreciate Marty. I had saved parts from my various DIY attempts to fix the engine. Marty offered to make use of any of those parts to save me money. He did use some parts and I did save money.
The car runs like new. I think the price is very fair especially because he held to the estimate. In addition, I noticed a slight alignment problem, and Marty didn't hesitate to take the car back to fix it and offered me a loner while it was being repaired. I call that excellent customer service.
I can recommend Marty' shop not only for the the remanufactured engine work but for any work because I trust him. I will be bringing my car here in the future
