Very Disappointed
I have two major issues with this dealership and no one can seem to assist me, but the most recent was I went in for a recall on the ABS only, no other service but instead they tried to make me pay for oil and 2 air filters that was changed that no one mention to me until after the fact. Not only that but after leaving the dealership my dashboard begin to have all kinds of check lights to come on. Now the check BSD light comes on along with others. While taking my daughter to school my vehicle cut off on the highway. I contacted the service department and told them this all happened after they only was suppose to complete the recall and was told I could bring it back in but would be charged $110.00 just for them to look at my vehicle. I left a message for a manager to contact me and I have not heard anything from the dealership.

Don’t by Hyundai
Jason,

I received your message and tried to call back leaving you a voicemail. I am very disappointed in Hyundai and they have forever lost me as a customer. Prior to this issue taking place with my sons 2013 Veloster, my spouse and I were looking at trading our Santa Fe in for a new Palisade but now have decided against any future business with Hyundai. To answer your question in which you would like to pick my brain about how I believe the recall is related to the engine failure, I would gladly give my reply. A recall was issued on my Veloster for a computer update due to a pre ignition which could lead to increased air and fuel mixture inside the cylinders that could cause engine failure or fire.

Even though I am a female, I do have some sense to me when it comes to vehicles. Let’s talk about engines and how they work. Obviously my Veloster is a 4 cylinder engine. Inside those cylinders a mixture of air and fuel is needed to creat a combustion that causes the pistons inside those cylinders to move up and down. The connecting rods to the pistons attach the crankshaft causing motion that makes the engine work allowing us to drive cars.

My Veloster threw a rod in the engine busting down through the engine block. I was advised that Hyundai would honor fixing the recall but nothing further.

So to answer your question as to why I know the recall was the reason for the complete engine failure is because I understand how engines work. The recall caused a pre ignition of air and fuel mixture inside the cylinder. Obviously creating too much pressure, more than the engine could handle. The pressure built in the cylinders due to the recall causing to great of pressure forcing the piston down at great force thus causing it to throw a rod busting through the engine block.

Hyundai has been plagued with the worse reviews on the 2013 Veloster and know there is issues with this turbo engine. Actually after this incident I have learned quite a lot about Hyundai and how they have failed to properly address issues in a timely manner or even at all.

If I could now pick your brain, could you so politely tell me why the service department does not believe the engine failure was due to the recall?

You can return my call at any time if you would like to discuss the matter further. It would be very helpful if Hyundai would repair the vehicle completely for their mistakes which is the truly the cause for the engine failure.

I have contacted NHTSA and reported the issue and will continue to voice my concerns to whomever will listen.

In addition, I was never advised that the service department attempted to get Hyundai to replace anything on the vehicle, I was advised from the beginning before the car was even inspected that only the software update would be completed to address the recall. So in my opinion no attempts were ever made by the service department to have Hyundai held liable for the engine failure. I will forever in my heart believe that I was taken advantage of by your service department because I am a female and what females possibly know anything about vehicles.

Sincerely,

Ashley Holligan

Crooked Dealership
I give my new Elantra a 5 star review but the dealership brings it down to a 2 star. Scam artists but very nice attitudes. Doc fees (which they don't have to participate in) is all profit that doesn't leave the dealership.. I did not see the required posted notice which is required by law to be posted in a conspicuous place. $995.00 for a wax job (Environmental Protection Package) which i am 99% sure it was not applied to my vehicle. Extremely nice sales people. And they do it with a straight face to. No one twisted my arm to buy there but due to the new vehicle shortage, i needed a vehicle.
