I took my 2002 Subaru Outback to North Troy Auto because I heard a muted "thumping" and vibration coming from the front end, when starting from a stop. Because the car is old, I suspected a worn steering rack, bad CV joints, or maybe drive axle or suspension issues and an expensive repair. The mechanic, Peter, did a thorough exam of the car, and determined the sound was actually originating from deteriorated rear differential mount bushings, causing the "thump" and the road vibration. Replacement parts were not available due to the cars age. The mechanic explained the car was drivable without a repair. The shop decided not to charge for this investigative work. I asked to pay a shop fee, because their work provided useful info! North Troy Auto was thorough, professional, and friendly. I would recommend North Troy Auto, and plan to go there again.
