We are sorry to hear the engine died on you truck. When the truck came to us it had less than 2 psi oil pressure and was making noise and driven to us this way. We found that whoever changed the oil filter last did not put the cage in that keeps oil filter from crushing and this is what happened. The oil had metal metallic in it, we installed new filter and screen and truck had over 70 psi and the noise was gone and left this way. The truck was towed back 135 miles later and still had oil pressure but lower end was making noise, we determined damage was done from lack of oil pressure from before and finally a bearing failed. We had no way to tell the damage an engine with 220k miles took from no oil pressure other than after we replaced filter correctly it sounded good and had great oil pressure. The original bill was 475 which included repairing a no start condition and diag oil pressure concern. The estimate for just over 14k was for a remanufactured engine to be installed.
