Versatile truck design
This is my favorite vehicle ever owned (I'm 70). Has a smooth ride, quiet interior, comfortable seats, and is reliable to a fault. Only service needed is the usual maintenance and a radiator. The cabin had more room than the comparably claustrophobic Tacoma or Frontier. The trunk under the bed is such a great design feature. I can load bike in the back and still lift the trunk door to access it. In 2026, still no rust anywhere.
Many will argue it's not a truck.. In regards to off-roading, maybe so. It's be through the woods and up the trails to rivers that I canoe. But, the bed's been full up to the sides with dirt and gravel and hauled sheets of plywood and drywall with no issues.
As for the few cons, the cloth seats stain easily, remedied by a light scrub with water one every two weeks. The mileage is not the greatest (average 17-18 mpg combined). Not the fastest horse on the road at 20 hp.
Would I buy another? In a heartbeat! Although the newer generations are so boring (looks like every other pickup), I would even consider a 2012-2014 with less than 150k on it). Most of all, it's never broken down, left me stranded, or been on a tow truck - from the eastern most point in Maine to the hills of Sedona and everywhere in between.
