Technical issues subtract from otherwise really nice vehicle

Software integration and RSPA2 issues kept a vehicle at the dealership for more than a month after purchase. During this time, I was also paying for gas and a loaner that was provided however, gas prices were climbing significantly. Hyundai motor America decided not to reimburse for the gas, which is an extreme disappointment. The experience with the malfunctions on the vehicle and continued issues with software integration are tainting and otherwise good experience with the vehicle itself. The vehicle drives fine and is very comfortable ride. It is relatively quiet and has a fair amount of power even given its size.

Wonderful but worrisome initial reliability

Love it so far that I have already had two warranty items in the first few months. This is my first time buying a Hyundai product. I'm concerned that I'm going to be shop frequently with this vehicle.

Drives better than expected, software needs improvement

Family of 5 and love the car, has all of the right features needed for road trips and daily commuting. Coming from multiple Tesla vehicles there are areas of improvement such as auto-door locking, auto-power off, staying in iPedal for one-foot driving, and auto-switching between profiles. Roads manners are great and drives better than expected for length, amazing turning radius! Getting a few “Check Vehicle Electrical System” alerts periodically which is concerning, but no other issues so far. Sun roof requires tall cross bars, preventing parking in any garages with cargo box installed.

Good car, but not great

From the first day, there is a sound when you back up that sounds like a squeaky shock, not all models equipped to tow, even though it’s an SUV, certain wires exposed under seats making it unsafe for small children and no spare provided and if you have to put regular air in the tires instead of the gas they fill them with, it throws the tire sensors off, but looks great, has a ton of seating space and drives like a minivan.

Ioniq 9 maybe the AZTEK of EVs

The curse of unrealized potential. The only way to justify owning this car is to get all of the appointments available. This makes the final price about $20,000 too much.

Hyundai Ionic 9 (Early Review)

I was in the market for a 3-row all electric SUV and the Hyundai IONIQ 9 was the highest rated in that category in Consumer's Report and Edmund's. In 3 months it has lived up to that rating. Easy to drive, easy to charge, and easy access to the back row. Love the technology included.

Build quality is not great & Not getting claimed mileage (~260 vs 311)

Build is not great as I see a crack missing the metal of one of the door edges as well and always an issue for parking even with bigger spaces due to the large doors. The mileage promised is not good at all as even within city and no climate control it’s down by 60 miles or so from the expected 311 per charge.

Very good - almost great

Excellent design, interior and exterior. Main problem is the suspension. On the road, a minor bump creates an unstable vehicle. It bouncers differently on each side (left-right), producing a bubbling effect - very unsettling. Also happens in the rear suspension but the feeling is stronger in the front. On the smaller side of things, the grip in the cup holders is too tight - cans get deformed, you have to really pull your beverage out hard to drink. Overall, I am happy with it, although a bit concerned with the suspension. Also, I wish the steering wheel would come down a little further.

Exactly what I wanted

Our first experience with an EV was the Model 3. We owned it for years, but our family of four with two large dogs outgrew the sedan. We couldn't be happier with picking the Ioniq 9. We needed more space, but did not need off-road capabilities. I wanted a longer range and comfort for all passengers for road trips. I had always seen myself as a Van Dad, completely in love with functionality, and to my surprise, the Ioniq 9 hits all my needs. The thoughtful design is such a step up from the minimalist nature of our last EV. I missed buttons, but most importantly, I missed comfort. This has it all, plus the warranty is amazing.

Review of Ioniq 9 at 5K Miles

Overall we like our Ioniq 9. Low cost to run and fast charging are major plusses. The front door trim rubs against the door frame when sitting in the sun which suggests that the new model bugs are not fully addressed.
