Very reliable car.

Never had any issue whether in Summer time or winter time. The remote features through bluelink are easy to use and very convenient. I love my Kona EV

Overall very satisfied

Love the way it handles--corners nicely, gets me on the freeway without fear due to it's incredible pickup, slows me on steep hills without breaking, lets me rest my accelerator pedal foot when stopped, battery lasts long enough for me to get from the SF peninsula to Carmel or Sebastopol, etc. What I don't like--hard to see temperature control buttons, somewhat complicated, changing settings, lane warning (car in adjacent lane) is small and on the far side of the mirror so hard to see, back-up camera doesn't always catch people or cars. Like the roomy trunk for the size and the roomy back seats. Driver seat is a bit short for me (I'm 5'2") so need a pillow.

A Happy Surprise

Never had any experience with Hyundai autos until I leased the 2023 Kona EV. I was eager to get into the EV game, and dithered for a few months until the prices came down. Turns out, the Kona has been a marvelous unit that served pretty much all my needs - no problems to speak of and it has been a very pleasant ride to date.

An affordable version of Hyundai Ioniq 5

A great bang for your buck. The Kona electric is a great EV that is reliable with very little maintenance needed ever. While it says that it gets around 240 miles on a battery, it actually gets a lot more, especially if you drive in eco mode. The Sport mode is fun, but drains the battery very fast. This is one downfall of the vehicle, the sport mode is really not designed to drive in for long periods of time at all. In fact driving in that mode would make the fueling of the vehicle more expensive than a gasoline vehicle. The suspension system is great, with an overall smooth ride. The vehicle is very quiet in operation. And the infotainment system is great with Apple mirroring.

Love the car, but the options are a little misleading

Everything about the Kona Electric is great from the standpoint of your daily-use EV. I would love for Hyundai to add an automatic lift gate, but that's about it. You're not going to take this one on a 400-mile-plus freeway drive however, as the DC fast charging isn't quite as fast as a Tesla or an Ioniq 5. I love that it has physical buttons for climate control, etc. I hate having to do everything through a touch screen like on a Tesla. My mother can get in the Kona Electric and drive it like any other car--the turn signals, wipers, HVAC and everything are all where they should be. When she gets in a Tesla, she immediately gets out. Hyundai had some misleading information online about the Limited trim, however. The Kona EV is specified as having "wireless Apple Carplay" but that's only for the ones with the smaller infotainment screen--the bigger one in the Limited trim model does not support wireless Apple Carplay--so you get the BEST version of the car and get a WORSE infotainment experience! The other thing too is that online you see everywhere that the Limited trim has a heads-up display. It does not--the heads-up display was an OPTION on the Limited models! So I was disappointed by those two things. Nevertheless, I'm only docking one star for those little beefs. I love the car, it's wonderful, it's all the car most of us would ever need.
