Great car. Smooth and fast. Just a few complaints

Overall, I really enjoy my Kona Electric Limit. I love the dash and interior layout. The car has plenty of power, accelerates so smoothly and is quiet while doing so. In the summer I regularly get over 5 miles to the Kw. With just shy of 15K miles, the car has been practically problem free. The safety features are top notch. We recently purchased a new car from a different company and I like the Kona's safety features much, much better. All that being said, I have had one recuring issue; unlocking via the door handle. Sometimes it works great. Usually it doesn't react to my grasp initially and I have to move my hand around to get a response. I complained about it at my 8K maintenance and the dealership replaced the handles which seemed to fix the problem for a while. But now, 7K later, it has returned to being an issue. Other minor complaints: while quiet it would be great if the wind noise was less prominent, why do the front collision sensors alarm while the car is in reverse?, I'm unable to read the climate control panel while wearing sunglasses, the auto-headlight sensor could be more sensitive (they are slow to turn off when they aren't needed), there is no enclosed storage under the front center armrest. As I said, just minor complaints.

Great ... except

2025 is 2nd Kona EV - 2022 was first. I really love and value both cars - possibly the best of 65 years owning cars. However, 14 months after buying 2025, the heater was not performing as a heater should in winter months - to get 72°F I had to set at 82F. Dealer replaced 2 parts and it MAY be fix. At 16 months after purchase, car would intermitently NOT START. After replacing 2 components, this issue MAY be resolved - time will tell. This involve 5-6 loaner car events (2 EV and 3-4 gas cars) with $75+ in gas. I started Lemon Law/Buy Back with Hyundai; but, have now suspended this effort pending performance of car.

Not ready for prime time

For every cool feature there are three issues that overshadow the experience. The computer is horrible at calculating range. It prefers temps in the 60° to 80°F range. Otherwise, you will be disappointed.

I LOVE MY 2025 HYUNDAI ELECTRIC VEHICLE!

Love the ride! Smooth as glass! Quiet as can be! From the large sun roof to the economy in maintenance; from the comfort to the wide media screen; from the great size of the car and it's roominess; to her BEAUTY, I JUST LOVE THIS CAR SO MUCH! I was hesitant to get an EV, but let me tell you: "I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A GAS FUELED CAR!" The cameras are fantastic on this car too. There is NOT ONE THING I am disappointed in! I opted to place a charger for the car in my garage for my convenience, and I even get a lower utility rate charge when I opt to charge my EV during the night! SAVINGS are unbelievable over all! This HYUNDAI KONA HITS MY EVERY MARK OF EXCELLENCE! = )

Great car alert - Kona

I love my Kona. I love not buying gas. I am a huge fan of maximizing my solar panel battery usage during the day to charge my Kona - allowing me to return less to my utility company who reimburses me a pittance when they take the electricity I generate!

Great car. Easy to drive. No gas.

Car has been great. No repairs so far. Had to get used to EV, but once I did, I like it. I always say, it's like having a dog. You have to keep track of it and feed it right. When you do, it will love you back.

A great EV... with incredibly limited battery capacity and charge rate

I wanted a safe, sleek, reliable EV with range that could reasonably get me between Madison and Milwaukee and back because I rarely go further than that. I did some research and there were plenty of charging stations around me that could theoretically reach 200+ kwh for charging, even if the vehicle itself was limited to maybe 80kwh and only between 10-80% charge. However, my car does not even get close to this charging rate, capping out at 30kwh even with preconditioning. It does not matter whether or not it's cold outside or what kind of charging station it is (including DC Fast). This incredibly slow charging speed combined with a VERY limited battery capacity in winter has resulted in an unfortunate situation for me: from December-May, I can't make it to and from Milwaukee (150mi round trip) on a single charge. The battery capacity goes from 250mi in the warm months to about 140mi in the cold months. Which means I am forced to sit at a Tesla supercharger station that charges my car at a fraction of what I was promised. Apart from the battery issues, I actually think the car is quite nice and modern. Adaptive cruise control and lane assist are nice features and I like the console. The sound system is pretty good, and regenerative braking is nice. The only other "flaw" I would argue that the car has is the fact that the charging port is on the front... this is nice when you're charging in a garage, but the entire front of the car gets splattered with bugs if you do any kind of highway driving with it. All in all, I could see this being exclusively a car for city drivers if you truly never, ever intend to drive anywhere longer than 30 minutes away. I absolutely would NOT buy this car again for myself, though.

Awesome car!

This is our second leased Kona. We would probably lease another one (or similar model from Hyundai) next year when our current lease is up, but now that the electric vehicle incentives have disappeared, we are unlikely to be able to afford it. Nevertheless, the Kona is such an excellent vehicle! Comfortable, handles well, and feels like the right thing to do.

I like the car very much

Drives nice, good features. Good value. I like the style of the car. Dashboard is good. App works well. I haven't had any issues. Best features- 360 degree camera and cameras on the side when turn signals are on. What I don't like thus the 4 stars- came with a level 1 charger instead of level 2 & no power passenger seat. If it had those 2 things I would have given 5 stars. I also prefer models that are uniquely EV. But I chose the car knowing there was also a gas model. I wanted an EV and at this price range I think it is the best looking car and has the most features.
