Very good car for the money. Some minor annoyances.
This seems to be the best car I've ever owned, but I tend to own my cars for over a decade -- my alternate vehicle is nearly 20 years old -- which means the jury's still out. I love the high fuel efficiency, the availability of Android Auto (but more on that in a moment), the climate control which include the seats, camera views when parking or changing lanes, and the navigation system. Overall I'm delighted.
A few things do bug me, 3 1/2 years into owning the car.
- Some sort of fault caused the window controls in the driver's side door to fail. This was covered under warranty.
- Something went wrong with a plastic molding (called the side skirt, I believe) along the driver's side of the car. Something tore, so that a screw in the wheel well wasn't able to secure, leaving the shielding a little loose. This was not covered under warranty, as they claimed it was damaged. It was covered by my insurance, but I suspect it's a manufacturing defect, not damage, as I have no idea how that could have been damaged without damaging the tire.
- A couple of months ago, I started hearing a slight, irregular tapping sound from the right hand side at high highway speed. I think it's some of the molding around the window, but I'm not sure. A passengers also heard it, but was unable to locate it. It's inconsistent, so I haven't yet been able to report it to service.
- The Android Auto connection is somewhat unreliable: it will sometime disconnect and tell me that, to reconnect, I have to plug the device back in, even though it's plugged in. This typically happens after I stop listening to a podcast. I'm not sure this is Hyundai's fault, as I've had issues with Android Auto in every car I've drive, including rentals, and I have personal experience with Google's terrible design and poor support for Android. All the same, it bugs me.
- After an update either to Hyundai's system or to my phone, Android Auto always shows Google Maps, regardless of what app I am using. I don't want to use Google Maps. I don't want Google to know where I'm going. They know too much about me already. That's one reason I use your navigation instead of Google Maps. Please stop showing Google Maps when I don't request it.
- The procedure to update the navigation map seems far too complicated. Why can't you just update it over the internet, the way you do the infotainment system?
