Damper Electric Power Steering replacement cost $250

⚠️ Disappointed with Hidden Costs on 2012 Toyota Camry LE I’ve generally appreciated Toyota’s reputation for reliability, but my recent experience with the 2012 Camry LE left me frustrated. The Damper Electric Power Steering part itself is cheap—anywhere from $2 to $15—but the labor cost to replace it was a whopping $250. I just paid that, and honestly, it feels like a punch to the wallet for something so minor. There’s no warning or transparency around this issue, and it’s not something most owners would expect to fail. For a car that’s supposed to be budget-friendly and dependable, this kind of repair cost is disappointing. Toyota really needs to rethink how accessible and fair their service model is for common issues like this. I’ll be more cautious with future maintenance and definitely more vocal about what owners should watch out for. If you’re considering a used Camry from this generation, factor in these hidden costs.

It’s the best car I ever owned!

At almost 13 years old, I have never had it in the shop. I will always buy a hybrid and Camrys are awesome! I get compliments on its color regularly (Clearwater Blue). 500+ miles on a tank of gas. Love it!!

Our Camry is trouble free

We have had our Camry for 10 years and it has been trouble free. We have maintained it and it has 190,000 miles on it. We recently replaced the alternator.l, which is the first major repair we have mese. We love our Camry!

Retired single man

I would definitely by again great car no problems expected 400,000. No cab noise built very sold, also built in U.S.A. Great paint silver . Still runs like it did when I bought it in 2016. Definitely recommend

Toyota done me wrong.

I bought my Camry SE new in 2012. Since then I have had 3 gas caps replaced, the leak from the air-conditioner had to be resealed as the water built up on the passenger side. The transmission was "supposedly" fixed at Thompson in 2015 as there was a shudder which led to having to have the transmission replaced in 2022 ($6000 at Thompson but $3000 rebuilt at Cottman). The airbags had to be recalled for the dangerous auto release which was a driving hazard. A-Team and Tones I trust, Thompson...NO!

Great car

I bought this car used with about 55K miles, and with regular maintenance it has been super reliable and fun to drive. It is also comfortable, which is important to me since my back is vulnerable to hurting. I can go on pretty long trips without much back discomfort. This years model seats are much better than in my last Camry, which was a 1997. Plus, I like the way the car looks (not overly important, but enjoyable).

This is a great car

I love my 2012 Toyota Camry. I got it used, and have found it to be super reliable. I've never had a problem starting it in the morning and just driving off, no warmup needed. Also, it's been easy to maintain. I now have about 70K on it. Repairs have been done but nothing one wouldn't expect. I enjoy driving it; it is peppy and handles nicely. I like that it has a very large trunk.

I love my Toyota Camry it runs smooth it saves you on gas It is a very good reliable car this car is very reliable no leaks from my sunroof or anything. It runs very very well. I will recommend this car for anyone who wants to save money.

Reliable except for Water Leak by sunroof

Great reliable car. V-6 has smooth power. Hardly any issues except for a repeated leaking sunroof. Now the sunroof won't open and the part has been back ordered for 10 months. Major irritant as I have no garage or carport and I live in rainy climate.

Just bought a used 2012 Camry Hybrid and it is a beautiful car. The ride is smooth and the mileage amazing. The instruments on the dashboard are all easily accessible and easy to understand. I recommend this car without reservation.

Because Honda Did Not Have a Good Hybrid Option, We Chose This Cutie

I'm a Honda fanatic and am average-sized (5'6"). My back is most comfortable in Honda-made cars. Toyota is a close second but it's still not the perfect fit. My partner is tall and he loves the Toyota Camry hybrid. His back/body type fits well with most Toyota-made vehicles (Highland, Lexus RXs). This car has paid for itself the moment gas prices skyrocketed. We used to pay $25 for a full tank that was circa 2012. Now we're paying $95 to fill up our tank. It's still so much less than everyone else. We love that it's not all electric and that we're not held hostage to limited drives and charging for hours in the middle of nowhere. This car has been reliable, we have a nice grey-green color and sunroof. We've had many fun rides and road trips in this car. Even though it was my second choice, we've grown very fond of her. She's still alive and kicking. We take good care of her but the upholstery in both the driver's and front passenger's seats is shredded from overuse. On the outside, it's still relatively attractive. The car has two batteries and one of them is quite expensive but that was changed out at the 10-year mark. Overall, we're quite happy with our Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid.

It was a preowned car which I have had for 9 years.

Thanks to Snow's Garage I have maintained the car well over the years with any needed repairs. The car has been driven across country and back, several trips to Buffalo and WASHINGTON , DC where my granddaughter went to school. Great rides.

Great car

I bought this car used from a private seller. I have been very happy with it. It rides well, doesn't so far have too many repairs (it had 55K miles on it when I bought it, now has about 66K miles). I maintain it well. It is comfortable and easy to handle. I love it!

This car still runs and still looks like new. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned. I wouldn’t change a thing. Never had any problems with it. High mileage no problem. First class 10 star vehicle. Would highly recommend.

This is my second Camry and I have been extremely satisfied with the car. I have it for 10 years and have not had any major issues with it. I take good care of the car and it is still in great shape appearance wise as well as mechanical.

My 2012 camry XLE

Bought it as a certified used car in 2017 in Bensalem PA. Great car good features and very comfortable. It also has a great sound system. I miss a tape cassette player since this car only has a cd player. Navigation system leaves much to be desired however, so I use my cell phone with Google Maps when going to a new location.

My Toyota Camry has never failed to start.

I have owned my 2012 Toyota Camry for six years now. He has never not started when I put the key in and turn ignition on. Everything functions normally, the air conditioning heating system front and rear defrosters drivetrain muffler system are all still intact. This is been the most reliable car I have ever owned in my entire life, second to that would be a Buick station wagon six-cylinder that I owned some years back

Camry Great Car

Our Camry Toyota has been the best car for its money. Great ride, easy to take care of, easy on gas. If you travel as much as we do, that trunk is large and holds a lot. One point most people do not mention is the rear seat is comfortable even on a long trip.
