Minor problem, followed by untruths
Unfortunately I cannot in good faith leave a good review. I took my Hyundai in for a service recall, and I guess it got completed? I really don't know, and I have my doubts. The part that makes me doubt what was actually done to my car was the multi-point inspection report card. It was not given to me when they returned my keys to me, and I had left an internal review about not receiving it, at which time they emailed me "a" report card (I am almost positive it did not belong to my car's inspection). The report card they sent me showed that my car was 100%, all my tire pressures were equal, the brake linings were all equal, and the tire treads were all equal. Absolutely nothing was wrong with it. However, I am very capable of giving a visual check of my car, and I could tell that the engine coolant under the hood was low, and I also checked the tire pressure after the car was at rest for several hours. I thought it odd that all of them showed 35psi on the report card. The tire pressures were 32-34psi each under my measurements.

It appears to me that they either forgot to fill out the report card when I brought my car in and then decided to just fill out a dummy one where everything is A-OK, or misplaced the one they actually did and then just sent me a "go away, everything is fine with your car" kind of message. I did ask to see if they were sure they had sent me the correct one specifically asking about the tire pressure differences, and they assured me that it was the right card, and offered to let me bring my car back in to recheck it and the clutch again for my peace of mind. When I mentioned that it was unusual that all the numbers were the same for pressure, tread, and lining, I received no response. I also chose not to bring my car back to them since I don't feel like I can trust them.

Since I had concerns, I took my car to a different location (not related to Hyundai) to get a much needed oil change anyway, and they revealed to me that my cabin air filter needed to be changed (I also checked later, and it definitely did - I last changed it 7+ years ago), and the engine coolant was low. My tire treads also had some variance, and my brake lining measurements also didn't line up with what the report card showed. Finally, my car has a clutch that the Hyundai report card didn't show.

While the multi-point inspection was not the primary reason I brought my car in, if they were willing to lie to me about that, I don't know that I can trust them to do the service work that they said they did. I guess the recall work was done, but I have no way of actually checking. Unless there is a dire recall that must be addressed as soon as possible, I don't intend to return to this location again.

Never again
Do NOT buy a car from Crain Hyundai of Fayetteville. I’m not normally one to leave reviews, but this business deserved a special mention.

I purchased a 2020 Sonata SEL Plus in June of 2020, and I took the car in for a service appointment on November 24th. Before my visit, I made it extremely clear I did NOT want my car to go through their automatic car wash. During the visit the dealer managed to wreck my car while pulling into the car wash against my wishes, causing roughly $3,000 in damage. The dealer offered to make things right or get me set up in a new car the next day. However, this would cost me almost $9,000 for this trade. They told me they would fix my car and pay to have my paint corrected (again) and have my car ceramic coated (again). (My car was polished and coated less than a month before this service.)

I became angry and called corporate to inform them of what happened, and when the dealer got wind of this they took my rental car away from me. They refused to let me get my car fixed by a shop I trust or give me my car back in general. They straight to my face denied my request to get my car back. (Just in case Crain was to deny this, I have all the conversations recorded.) Several weeks went by and I heard nothing, and then I got a notification that my car had been turned on and several doors were open. I decided to track the location of my car and found out it was at the Crain dealership location in Springdale. I drove to Springdale to check what was happening to my car, and found out they were repairing it (after I told them not to touch it).

I got a call on December 18th that I could pick up my car. It was raining, so when I got home, I washed it off and pulled it in the garage to look it over. The car was disgusting, misaligned body panels, missing trim pieces, missing weather stripping, a TON of overspray, scratches, small dings, an absolute disgrace of a repair. So, I went to Crain Hyundai of Fayetteville and told them about the absolute disaster my brand-new car was, and that I was taking it to a shop to have it fixed right, and they would pay the bill. They refused and sent me back to the body shop 3 times, each time still as awful. I tried asking one of the managers to just pay me to get my paint corrected and my ceramic coating fixed ($1,300). He declined because it was “too expensive” and my car didn’t need to have the paint corrected, as their body shop did an “amazing job”.

After a few weeks now of trying to reach this manager over the phone, leaving multiple messages with no return call, I’m assuming they have no intention to repair my car to how it was before they forgot how to drive through a garage door. I feel like people who are looking at a Hyundai should see this and know their service before/during the purchase is great, but they don’t care about you after you sign that dotted line. I will NEVER buy a car from any Crain dealership again.
