Dishonest, High-Pressure Sales — Gurnee Hyundai Cannot Be Trusted
My experience at Gurnee Hyundai was deceptive, manipulative, and exhausting. What started as a normal car purchase turned into a situation where I was misled, pressured, and overcharged by thousands of dollars.

Initially, the salesperson Brian was friendly and transparent. I trusted them, and that was my mistake. Once I arrived to buy the car, the price suddenly jumped by nearly $4,000 compared to what was promised.

The manager, Luis, then stepped in and claimed certain warranties could not be removed. During negotiations, they took my trade-in car for inspection and refused to return my keys, a clear pressure tactic designed to prevent me from walking away.

After pushing back, the numbers changed again. In finance, Josh rushed the paperwork, avoided explaining anything, and dismissed price discrepancies by calling them “internal numbers.” I was told all documents would be copied to a flash drive and emailed — none of that happened.

After the sale, communication stopped completely. Messages were ignored. I was asked to come back when finance wasn’t even present. When I questioned the final price, suddenly no one remembered anything they had promised. I ultimately paid about $4,000 more than expected, with zero accountability.

This was not a misunderstanding, but a pattern of misrepresentation, pressure tactics, and avoidance by Brian, Luis, and Josh.

⚠ WARNING TO FUTURE BUYERS:

Do NOT trust verbal promises

Do NOT sign anything without reviewing every number

Take photos or copies of all documents

Be ready to walk away if pricing changes

I trusted Gurnee Hyundai, and that trust cost me thousands. This was the worst car-buying experience I’ve ever had, and I strongly advise others to be extremely cautious.
