Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware!
I cannot emphasize enough to avoid this dealership if at all possible. I am not inexperienced at purchasing vehicles or dealing with sales transactions, however this was the most unprofessional and dishonest transaction I have ever been exposed to.

The sales associate was fine and did his job. It wasn't hard, I have 800+ credit, and did all the leg work myself from home and was approved for financing over the phone before ever setting foot on the lot to purchase the vehicle. I had been in a major auto accident 2 days before and made it clear that I was not able to haggle it out in person, I needed to get all the details worked out in advance and simply come in to sign papers and test drive the car. It couldn't have been easier for them.

However, once I was passed over to the Finance Director the entire process was a nightmare. A "Gold Standard" extended warranty was shoved down my throat for a mere $2995 and I was told in order to qualify for a lower interest rate I was required to sign up for the warranty. The warranty itself was grossly misrepresented by the Finance Director in terms of coverage and how the program worked I found out a month later when trying to use it for a sensor that went out.

I also found out that the interest rate I was promised (5.99%) for adding the $3k to the loan amount was never in fact processed by the Finance Director as stated, he signed me up for the 7.65% rate I adamantly told him I did not accept. At no point was I given copies of the paperwork I was told to sign on a tiny 4x6 screen with 8 point font which you couldn't even read. It wasn't emailed to me until after I had left the dealership.

This director was so incompetent he didn't even remember to get the down payment from me despite me sitting there with my checkbook open on his desk trying to write it out for 20 minutes while he haggled over this ridiculous warranty and the APR he never ended up financing me for (5.99%).

Fast forward to trying to cancel the extended warranty and big shock when I followed up, the dealership never bothered to send it to the warranty company so I'm still out $3k for nothing and had to immediately go to my credit union to refinance the car with the broken sensor for what he said he was signing me up for to begin with.

Talk about one big scam. Attempts to repeatedly rectify these issues with the owner and manager have gone unanswered.

ADAS (radar, visual) calibration is very poorly understood at Burt Murdock Lindon
4 visits ago, I asked the repair associate (all nice, polite idiots) to remove the comment on my record file that states my radar is broken. Their associates are idiots in car repair, and the repair crew can't communicate with the customer, such a convenient shielding for both sets of idiots! I recalibrated my radar to within a degree with a 2x4, better than these idiots who don't know what they are doing, and aren't even using the most accurate calibration (corner cube radar reflectors-yeah, Hyundai, which one of your idiots can define what that is for me-I sure can because I can watch videos and learn). So my last oil change I ask for Radar calibration "because it's pointed a bit right". I get charged $90 for them to tell me it's broken - $3500 repair. Well, I just drove 1600 miles thru remote Montana and back to Orem, UT using my radar the whole F*cking way. So yeah, it's broken?? Look beyond the file's "broken" note? No. They have no ideas what they are doing. They just look at the note, and return "broken". Complete F*cking idiots!!!! Don't buy a car from them or for god's sake get it repaired there. Way overpriced, and complete lack of knowledge.

This dealership’s service department is absolutely horrible!
Warning: This dealership’s service department is absolutely horrible. If you value your time, money, or vehicle, I strongly suggest going elsewhere.

I’ve been a loyal customer here, having purchased three vehicles from this dealership — including my current Nissan Pathfinder with an extended service agreement. But the way I’ve been treated over the past year has been unbelievably frustrating and disappointing.

Last year, I brought in my SUV for overheating and white smoke from the exhaust. After nearly two months of silence, broken promises, and no returned calls, I was told the issue was fixed — but the white smoke continued. When I tried to bring the vehicle back, my service advisor ghosted me completely.

The problem got worse: the SUV started burning through oil, and now needs a full engine replacement due to loss of compression. A different advisor eventually admitted that had the original issue been properly diagnosed, this could have been avoided.

I emailed a detailed complaint directly to the service manager and dealership owner — and they’ve completely ignored me. No reply. No accountability. No offer to make things right.

This is unacceptable. A dealership that sells you a car and an extended warranty should stand behind their work. Instead, I got a service department that dodges responsibility and ignores loyal customers.

Do yourself a favor — take your business somewhere that actually cares.

Service Hours
I dropped my car off at 3 to just get an oil change. Nothing else was needed or wanted and it had taken 4+ hours again for an OIL CHANGE. Last time I came I set an appointment to come and I still waited 4+ hours to have it completed because they still take the cars that “walked in” before scheduled times. ALSO was just told that if you leave or take a uber, the car goes in a separate line of when to work because you aren’t waiting in the lounge. Which is BS because I had waiting in the lounge for 4+ hours last time.

Sales was fine, until we needed the 3 month 3,000 mile warranty they offer
We purchased a vehicle from this dealership on 5/17/2025, less than a week ago. Right after purchasing it, we noticed that one of the headlight bulbs was out. We replaced it, and they gave us a reimbursement check.
However when we drove the car home ~ 25 miles from the dealership, the TPMS light came on. We took it back because we were told they have a 3 month 3,000 mile warranty, to have them reprogram the lights (maybe 15-60 minutes of labor easily less than $100 to fix). However we were told that because this wasn't a "safety issue" we would need to pay for the service.
Save your money go to a dealer who cares about their customer service. I won't be buying another car from a dealership owned or run by the Murdoch family.

Lifetime oil change
When they sold me a lifetime oil change it was 4 times a year and walk in service. Now that I need an oil change before a trip to Canada there’s a 10 day waiting period before they can do it. This is not the service I was sold. Requested a call back from someone in charge like a manager they said no problem and I’m still waiting this is the second day. Do not spend you money with these I incompetent people they are the worst. This is my third Hyundai I’ve purchased but it will be the last from Murdock. This is the latest experience there a long list of grievances prior to this one.

Avoid their service department
My experience buying a new Santa Fe here started great (JJ the sales rep was awesome), but the post-sale service was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. Issues identified immediately at purchase (non-functional rear seat heaters) took nearly four months and four separate service visits to resolve, as well as a bunch of time on my own with Hyundai support.

Appointments consistently took much longer than promised, despite initial assurances of half-day service. Communication was very very poor; I frequently had to chase staff for updates after promised calls/texts were missed. During the process, they ordered 2 parts to fix the left and none to fix the right seat heaters, delaying the fix further. Worse, the service advisor initially tried to suggest we were responsible for their delays and inability to meet timelines.

It took escalating to everyone in upper management to get focused attention, including arranging a loaner car for the final repair attempt for the seat heaters. Even then, the dealership couldn't fix the Bluelink system after multiple tries over several weeks. I ended up fixing it myself after contacting Hyundai Bluelink support directly and following up with them multiple times for 3 weeks.

The entire process involved significant inconvenience: multiple 1.5-hour round trips (45 mins each way), unexpected delays, constant follow-up, and immense frustration. While management eventually apologized and the initial issues were finally fixed, the repeated failures, poor communication, damage to my vehicle, and wasted time have completely eroded my trust in this service department. Despite purchasing the vehicle here and being offered perks like free oil changes, I will not be returning for any future service.

Best experience buying a new vehicle
I have purchased several new vehicles in the last 40 years, my experience today was amazing. Greg Michie helped me pick out a new Elantra and assisted me through the entire experience. He was not pushy, he asked questions and actually listened. I am not one to write reviews, but I was literally in shock on how today went. If your looking to purchase a new car, the salesperson you want to deal with is Greg.

Dishonest
I really should have learned my lesson by now. It’s just that they are the only Hyundai dealer less than an hour away. I get ripped off every time I am there. They lie to you, sloppy work, long wait times and over charged.

Incompetent
These people are severely incompetent - they told us we were going to get a loaner car because our car will be in the shop for who knows how long- but they are acting like they’ve never given a loaner car out before- everyday they tell us “we need this document then we will call tomorrow” they never call so we have to call and go through the whole thing again with someone. Then that person says “ok we will get this handled and call tomorrow”. No one calls snd when we do get ahold of them they tell us they need another document- it just goes on for weeks- still no loaner car- this place needs to be shut down.

Murdock has lost there way.
Hello I just heard that Mr. Shawn Miller is no longer there. after asking around of what happened, I'm realizing that Murdock is pretty weak in how they handle there employees and certain "HR" reports that they're handling is very unprofessional, lazy and uncaring of there employees lively hood and lives. Cant believe they do him wrong like that. Sounds to me they need to let there HR person go and hire someone that'll not wreck a company, cause they sure did firing Shawn. I've Known Shawn for awhile now and he's been the best manager that I have ever dealt with in all of my existence of servicing my vehicle. I feel that since the old owners have left that the Murdock brand has been slowly loosing there way. Now that Shawn was the heart of the service, this has made my decision to not go back to Murdock for anything. Sad to see Murdock's do these wrongful decisions. Wish Murdock's would go back to old ways which was being caring, forgiving and understanding. I guess Murdock's are all about being greedy and quitting on there actual good people that are loyal to them. integrity is lost. Loyalty is lost. they have lost there way. hope that one day they can get back to what matters. hope and pray for Shawn in his search for something meaningful and good. good Bye forever.

Poor Workmanship, Clear Disrespect for customer, unnecessary repairs
Went in for an engine replacement under warranty, upon getting my car back I had a misfire. They recommended me engine mounts, even though that doesn't cause a misfire, but they stated they were able to recreate that issue. Obviously that didn't fix the issue, and when I got my car back they had left off parts of the engine and lost them, to which I had to wait even longer for them to replace it. Fixed the issue myself by taking a couple minutes to inspect my ignition coils and injectors and found they were worn. I ended up paying $600 for a phony repair. Along with this, I reviewed my dash cam footage while they were using the car and overheard them bragging about overcharging customers for engine mounts, and bragged about getting me to approve the phony repair. They spent less than a minute trying to discover the problem before simply stating the engine mounts were bad. Horrible experience.
