Hi Bill, I’m disappointed to see this review, as it feels like some of the frustration with the situation is being directed at us for delivering difficult news about the condition of your vehicle. I also tried reaching out to you directly to discuss your concerns but unfortunately did not receive a response.

As I explained, rats had gotten into the engine bay and chewed portions of the wiring harness. Our initial diagnostic scan identified 48 error codes throughout the vehicle. With that many faults present, we cannot responsibly determine whether there are additional problems without further diagnostic work.

Unfortunately, on your Mercedes, accessing and properly inspecting the affected wiring requires removing components and opening up areas of the engine bay that are not readily accessible. This is a time-intensive process, and we do not believe it would be reasonable to expect a repair facility to perform that level of diagnostic disassembly at no charge. However, I did explain that the diagnostic labor would be credited toward the labor charges if you proceeded with the repair.

I also mentioned that rodent damage is something many customers submit to their insurance company, as this type of damage may be covered under a comprehensive insurance claim depending on the policy.

We understand that this is an unfortunate and potentially expensive situation, and certainly not the news anyone wants to receive about their vehicle. Our goal was simply to accurately identify the extent of the damage before recommending repairs rather than guessing or replacing parts unnecessarily.
