Masterclass
I had my first journey with transmission issues and I am so thankful I ended up at this location.

I was and am still blown away at the whole experience. The team, process, accommodations, turn around time and price were simply masterclass.

True to their word. Good communication
I was due for 100 k milage tune up and had an appointment at Ford. Had a check engine light come on the day before and was next store to west automotive. Price wise both ford and West were expensive. Josh was very upfront with costs and saved money by replacing a cracked valve cover at the same time as the tune up. The cost was as quoted. Car is fine now.

Your local, trusted mechanic
After the dealership charged me a lot of money for shotty work, West Oside put a lot of thought and effort into diagnosing a difficult electrical problem. Then, they charged me a small amount. I’m so glad to have found them right in my neighborhood.

Paid $2,500.00 for them to tell me that my engine needed to be replaced
Nice guys, but charged $2,500 to change a timing belt hoping there was no engine damage. Of coarse there was engine damage, need a new engine, they want $14,000 to replace. Towed out of their shop for $500. They need a new business model to repair a 2005 Toyota, maybe learn how to trouble shoot. Never going back.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We understand how frustrating it must be to face unexpected issues with your vehicle, and we always strive to provide honest and thorough assessments.

Regarding the timing belt replacement and the subsequent engine damage, our goal is to diagnose and repair issues with complete transparency, though we recognize that situations like this can be stressful. The true fact is the only way to diagnosis a properly broke timing belt and to verify if a vehicle engine has experienced internal valve damage after a broken timing belt is to replace the timing belt and set the entire timing up and then check for proper engine compression. If you were to check with any Master technician, they would advise you we followed the proper procedure in diagnosing this failure. I am truly sorry this did not meet your expectations.

Charged for No service and No Diagnosis
Prior to my car receiving a diagnostic test I asked the dealer if they were able to service my make, model and year. I was told yes after giving a clear description of the problem. However I was charged the full diagnostic test without a diagnosis since my particular make, model and year was not able to be serviced. This lack of honesty left me with a very negative impression. After taking it to the dealer, the dealer laughed and stated they charge you $154 to tell you to take it to the dealer. None of the information that was given helped the dealer whatsoever in diagnosing the issue. Customers shouldn’t have to pay when the agreed service was completed.

Impressed by the owner's accessibility and his pride in his customer service standard.
Had a problem with a leak after my Toyota was serviced. Dean, the owner of the shop contacted me and was very concerned. The shop took care of the leak immediately! It was minor but the fact that the owner reached out to me to address the problem and make sure all my questions and concerns were answered is a testimony to the integrity and the work ethic and in addition the customer service that is paramount to his business. I will highly recommend West Oceanside Automotive and Transmission to all my friends!

dissapointed
Disappointing because after service it was not inspected for leaks and my driveway had 2 large transmission puddles the next day. I asked what they could do about my driveway and I was told to buy a cleaner. After 2 hours of me cleaning and rinsing it faded most of the spill but never received an apology or offer of remedy. After I called again to seek a remedy a driver was sent to my house with $20...the cost of the cleaner I bought. After spending hundreds of dollars with no offer for remedy I will not be returning. I was expecting that the owner might have reached out to me but never heard from him.

Top-Tier Auto Shop
Excellent customer service and mechanical work. The tune up, brake job, and suspension work went perfectly. Everything was fixed right the first time and for a reasonable service price. The work on my Toyota Tacoma truck was delivered as promised and on time. Great auto shop. I plan to return again in the near future.

Routine maintenance
Nine hours to do an oil change, tire rotation and wiper blades AFTER having made a reservation. Obviously, allowing me to make a reservation was only placating the customer. Their policy is ONLY drop off and they will get to it when they can.
I had to pick up my vehicle the following day because I CANNOT drive after dark and I informed them of that when I was there at 9 AM for my 9:30 AM appointment.
