Good Midlevel Family Car

Perfect vehicle for what I needed. Which is to haul around the family and the dog, large items such as chairs and small furniture, and even able to handle some building materials such as 2x4's and even a 10 foot piece of PVC pipe with the liftgate closed. It's even comfortable for the occasional long trip. Would have been a a 5 star except for the engine replacement at 37K but that was covered under the Ford recall. Al-in-all it has been a good vehicle for me.

Regret buying an Escape

2017 Escape had to have the engine replaced at 55,000 miles. Lugnuts were made of cheap metal which corrode on to the wheels and can’t be removed. Ford knows this but still charges to replace. Battery is in an inaccessible place to replace easily. Seats are not very comfortable. Radio has had issues since the beginning but would cost too much to justify the replacement. Overall just not a good vehicle.

Known engine defect; no recall

Our 2017 Ford escape had 127K miles and a busted block; mechanic explained this & a weak transmission seemed to be an issue with this model; however, Ford never did a recall, so were just left with a worthless shell

3rd and last Ford

Transmission 12 days out of warranty cost over $7000. This is the 3rd Ford I’ve had transmission problems and the radio stopped working. Only thing I do like about the Esscape is it handles well in snow.

Good, bad and disappointing

My 2017 Escape has just over 32,000 miles. I guess you might call it a low mileage creampuff. I give it 3 stars because it is very economical and comfortable and it handles well. Yes, it has some fine attributes but it has also exhibits Ford's less-than-stellar quality. 1. The rear shocks began leaking at 20,000 miles. 2. An engine oil return line is leaking. 3. The paint (white) is literally falling off the body and cracking apart on the door frame. My body shop tells me this is not uncommon for these and is the result of poor paint prep at the factory. 4. The paint is chalking and when it rains or when I wash it, white streaks appear on the black body moulding and rear bumper. It is a bear to clean. I was finally able to find a chemical that works. 5. There is a rattle in the driver-side rear door that no one can find. 6. The remote start works-when it wants to. Body rattles have become more common and louder. This was an amazingly quiet car prior to this. Maybe parts wear out earlier than they used to and paint isn't as durable as it once was and electronice aren't as reliables as we've been led to believe. If that's the case, though, shouldn't the price of these vehicles be going down?

Enjoy my car

I like my car so much I hope it will last me the rest of my life and one of our great grandkids will get to use it. I never wanted an SUV until my knees made it hard to enter and exit a sedan. (Even made fun of others for driving them). I had to sacrifice a little riding comfort but it’s negligible.

Never Buying Ford Again

We bought ours used. At 70,000 miles, it suffered from "catastrophic engine failure" on the highway out of nowhere. It broke down while going up a hill and had to pay $300 to get it towed. Had to pay $8,500 to get it fixed, and Ford had the car for 2 months (which is hard when you have a job). Then when I got the car back, it turns out they reinstalled a panel improperly and we had to take it back to Ford the same day (heard scraping while on the highway home). Also when we got the car back, a small crack in the front windshield became 3x bigger after we got the car back and had to pay $500 to fix it because Ford said it "probably cracked in the wash". 2 weeks later, the engine lags when starting and makes whirring sounds. Take it in AGAIN and they say we might have to replace the entire transmission, which will cost thousands more dollars. Get another opinion and they say to bring it in every 2 weeks to check on it. And got the slow start and whirring sound fixed for more money. All of this happened at 70,000 miles in 4 months. There was also a class action lawsuit forming in 2020 because they had crappy Ecoboosts and didn't recall or fix anything really. If this happened to someone without $10,000 in savings for car emergencies, then this could financially break someone, if you can't sell it and still have payments. We've never been more disappointed in a car company, and wish they would've actually stood behind their product.

Check Engine Light

My car had around 40 thousand miles when my check Engine Light came on. I contacted Ford and was told there was no recall and it would cost me around eight thousand dollars. Suffice it to say this is my first and last ford.

Low maintenance cost

I have had zero warranty work on this vehicle except for an engine replacement but that was a known problem. Getting ready to put my third set of tires on. Obviously there is an issue, as this is excessive.

Ford’s rule

Had my ford escape since new 2017, with no expenses out of normal where and tear.the tires are real good in bad weather snow or rain it doesn’t matter the car handles very good.the only issue is at the time all these new safety issues like brakes assist and lane change warning we’re not available when I bought it so if my gkids don’t get it I’ll trade it in for a new car.

Expired 5 year 60k mile warranty 78k miles

Expired 5 year 60k mile warranty 78k miles and already has coolant leaving into engine cyclinders. Resolution is engine replacement. Also has intermittent transmission shifting issues. My vehicle usually last for 200k miles or 18 years but not this vehicle.

Great SUV

I have had no problems with this car. It runs great and has many nice features. It is comfortable , gets good milage , has good power and is effortless fun to drive. The 2017 is a very good value and easy on the eyes. Several posers have copied it's fine design.

Great vehicle

I love this vehicle. It is easy to enter and leave the seats especially for an older person. And there is room for anyone sitting in the back seat. It is a smaller SUV and is easy to park in crowded spaces. Very responsive controls and tight turning base. Great features like backup camera and side mirrors.

It's A Good Car

Planning on keeping this car in good working order 'for the duration' - hoping it will be our last car purchase...Apparently, this 'review' won't be accepted UNTIL I ADD ENOUGH WORDS to take the character count over 200 - so that's what I just did... How absurd can you get - What I had said SHOULD Have been GOOD ENOUGH for anyone literate to KNOW we like our vehicle and believe it to be of seriously good quality - for whomever who might be interested in knowing that... So, hope 'you' are happy now... . .

Great performance and ride.

This vehicle is practically flawless.. I have the turbocharged four-cylinder and it's performing better than my previous Escape which has six cylinders. has quiet ride and handles like a sports car.

We like the car very much.

The car has been a very reliable addition to the family and relatively trouble free. The minor failures like leaking brake cylinder was taken care of by the dealer and the warranty. It is our second Escape and most probably won’t be the last.
