I dropped my car off Sunday night so it would be there for my 7 a.m. Monday appointment to do a diagnostic on why my fuel gauge display would disappear on occasion. Unsurprisingly, they could not find a problem. They suggested some routine maintenance, i.e. oil and fuel detergent flushing, some brake cleaning and lubrication, etc. to the tune of $825 which I approved. The next day they still hadn't completed the work as of noon. Later that afternoon of the second day (about 3 p.m.) they sent an email to my wife's phone saying that a lug nut was frozen on the stud and they were worried it might break and wanted to know if they should proceed. We did not see that email until 8:30 p.m. because we were working. We did not receive a text or a call regarding the lug nut/stud situation, and we never gave permission to proceed with removing the lug nut. Approximately 4 p.m. they sent a text saying they had snapped the stud and wanted $216 and another day to fix it. What is very concerning is they proceeded without permission; they did not do their due diligence in trying to contact me, and their communication is atrocious. This morning, I tried calling them directly, twice cut off and the 3rd time I left a message. It's been 4 hours and nothing and calling goes right to voice mail. Seriously, 4 days to do a glorified oil change and a brake job and to add insult to injury causing another $200 in damage. Their explanation why the stud broke was the lug nut had become seized onto the stud. Good theory but less than 3 weeks ago I had my winter tires put on and since then we've had unseasonably nice weather, so I'm more than a little skeptical of this hypothesis. We truly like our Hyundai's but will not be giving any further patronage to Zimbrick for vehicle purchase or service. As this is my second poor experience with Zimbrick I decided to post my experience in hopes Zimbrick will take notice and improve their service and that others will be cautious when selecting Zimbrick for servicing.
