Immensely fun to drive wish the interior was a bit nicer.
The driving experience is probably the best I’ve ever had. The handling, performance, engine, and exhaust note make this car incredibly fun to drive. I love cruising around town in N mode just listening to the engine and exhaust.
However, the experience has been somewhat spoiled by persistent squeaks and rattles throughout the interior. I’m not sure if my Elantra N is particularly bad, but the noises started only two weeks after I bought it new. I know some people will say it’s based on a cheap compact car, so a cheaper-feeling interior is to be expected, but my brother’s base 2021 Mazda3, which cost around $21,000 new, has a noticeably nicer interior in terms of material quality and has virtually no squeaks or rattles outside of large bumps or rough roads.
I’d expect better from a base Elantra, let alone from one that costs nearly twice as much. The seats and steering wheel in the N are excellent, but the constant interior noises have made the ownership experience less enjoyable than I hoped it would be.
