Not bad for the money
I like the exterior design of the 2026 Elantra SEL Sport, but dislike the coffee cup attention monitor that seems go off randomly with seemingly no rhyme or reason, not to mention there is no way to turn it off or even silence the alarm. When it goes off it vibrates the steering wheel and sounds a loud Chime that would be indicative of something wrong with the car. I find it dangerous. I also dislike how you must press the toggle down to go up and up to go down through your radio presets. That's just plain dumb. Then there's the reverse cross-path detector that doesn't warn you about backing up into a stationary object like a person standing still, or a post, or a car. No warning at all for that, but man driving perfectly straight down the road in the center of your lane doing the speed limit and that "driver attention" cup of coffee alerts you like a fire truck. Then there's the limited room to enter into the driver's seat if you're above 5' 10". You kind of need to shimmy your butt in first and then duck your head to get in unless you have the seat all the way down on the floor, but then you honestly cannot drive with the seat like that. It's like you're sitting on the ground looking up. I would also mention that the engine severely lacks power when you have the AC on. It's ok in and around town with the AC off, but the way it steals power from the engine is also pretty dangerous. You need to really plan for entering a highway or turning left if there's oncoming traffic. The best way to describe it is that the throttle feels like it has a huge flat spot right off the line when the AC is on. I would also mention that the headlights at night have an odd shadow in the middle directly in front of the car yet the left and right sides are fine. It's a strange view at night.
