An affordable version of Hyundai Ioniq 5

A great bang for your buck. The Kona electric is a great EV that is reliable with very little maintenance needed ever. While it says that it gets around 240 miles on a battery, it actually gets a lot more, especially if you drive in eco mode. The Sport mode is fun, but drains the battery very fast. This is one downfall of the vehicle, the sport mode is really not designed to drive in for long periods of time at all. In fact driving in that mode would make the fueling of the vehicle more expensive than a gasoline vehicle. The suspension system is great, with an overall smooth ride. The vehicle is very quiet in operation. And the infotainment system is great with Apple mirroring.

Love the car, but the options are a little misleading

Everything about the Kona Electric is great from the standpoint of your daily-use EV. I would love for Hyundai to add an automatic lift gate, but that's about it. You're not going to take this one on a 400-mile-plus freeway drive however, as the DC fast charging isn't quite as fast as a Tesla or an Ioniq 5. I love that it has physical buttons for climate control, etc. I hate having to do everything through a touch screen like on a Tesla. My mother can get in the Kona Electric and drive it like any other car--the turn signals, wipers, HVAC and everything are all where they should be. When she gets in a Tesla, she immediately gets out. Hyundai had some misleading information online about the Limited trim, however. The Kona EV is specified as having "wireless Apple Carplay" but that's only for the ones with the smaller infotainment screen--the bigger one in the Limited trim model does not support wireless Apple Carplay--so you get the BEST version of the car and get a WORSE infotainment experience! The other thing too is that online you see everywhere that the Limited trim has a heads-up display. It does not--the heads-up display was an OPTION on the Limited models! So I was disappointed by those two things. Nevertheless, I'm only docking one star for those little beefs. I love the car, it's wonderful, it's all the car most of us would ever need.

As a single mother of five, driving the Hyundai Kona Electric has truly been a joyful upgrade after spending 15 years behind the wheel of a van. It’s smooth, quiet, and surprisingly zippy—something I didn’t realize I was missing! The modern tech, comfortable interior, and great electric range make everyday errands feel like a treat. Love driving it

The vehicle is great to drive. But I would never use it for a long trip. I am uncomfortable finding and using available public chargers. I don't like the touchscreen feature. But I guess that is standard in all cars now. At least the most used features are still available in the easy to find button/knob assemblies.

Fun, zippy, and quite powerful!

Upside, it’s electric. 100% torque. Quicker than most muscle cars on the road. Roomy. Downside, you feel every bump in the road. Not as quiet as I’d like. Interior was plastic and hard. And of course, range anxiety.
