Lacks power but has lots of bells and whistles!

I leased my 2024 Kona in May 2024. It is much roomier all around and has more features than the 2023 and prior Konas. They did not make the engine any bigger than the previous year’s engine but the vehicle is bigger, causing it to feel sluggish, especially with 2-4 people in the vehicle. The cruise control lags and the speed actually drops by 2-3 mph after pressing the cruise set button and taking my foot off of the gas pedal before it will set at the chosen speed. Nice interior, spacious console with the SLE model with the gear shift on the steering column. Hydraulics on both sides under the hood hold the hood up without a rod are helpful. The vehicle data screen and infotainment screens are well-sized and easy to use with wireless CarPlay. The SLE has attractive wheels, in my opinion. The SLE model has many other features that are nice to have, such as auto brights, auto hold brake, heated seats and AWD. Overall I like it, but I wish it had more power. *Also, there was 1 time that the adaptive cruise control “saw” a car on the opposite side of the interstate, while I was going 75 mph, and it put the break on, that was scary.

Love this vehicle it is smaller than I thought!

Overall a great car! Was missing the roof racks that it showed it came with on the sticker, but it was a month after I purchased I saw it on the sticker.

Excellent vehicle!

This is my second Kona, and I hope I will always be able to afford them. Best vehicle ever! Love my 2024 model. The updates in the 2024 have made this the best driving car. The view is great, the inside is larger, the SUV is higher, and longer, and the self drive is wonderful on a long trip!

3 Things

There are 3 areas in which I would give my Kona 3 stars at best. 1. Unreliable acceleration and loses acceleration on cruise control. 2. Brakes. On several occasions they have skipped when I was stopping. Good thing I was going under 25mph. Also on the brakes, when there is a lot of moisture in the air or it has been raining, when you first drive it, the brakes make the sound of wet brakes. It last for about 10-15, then goes away. 3. The Kona is a light weight suv. It does not handle well on very windy days that gets harder on windy days on the highway. I do not take my Kona up north in the winter. I rent a heavier SUV. Other than those things the Kona has a great body style, good leg room in the back, easy steering, very good space in the hatch, decent mileage, it comes with good tires and a good package.

Nice selection of Hi-Tech features, decent price point.

Nice selection of Hi-Tech features for the price. Sharp styling, nice size, very comfortable interior. But I'm having a couple of issues. I'm getting a shifter selection error on the dash that says to service vehicle immediately. And I went to go to work a few weeks ago and the battery was totally dead with no apparent cause.

The vehicle is too large. I preferred Kona prior to making it bigger.

I have had issues with car. It bracelets to 20mph without warning when I am driving! I need to pull over and turn engine off! I have nearly been rear ended as result if car slowing to 20mph when I did nothing at all!! My electric seat heater on right front passenger seat was defective for over a year and finally it was repaired. I will not buy out lease on this vehicle and not happy with it at all!!!

Kona Review

Nice car but computer programming is not useful in some cases. For instance the message urging a coffee break does not take into account that you may have just gotten in the car. I don't know what the logarithm is but it should only work when you're on a long trip. Hands on the wheel message comes on when both hands are on the wheel although on the bottom half of the wheel.

Kona 2024

I really liked the old model, it just was a little too small. This model didn't have the same features and the overall design of the intieror needs some reworking. Things slide off the fall out of the consol, and no sunglass storage. The display planel is nice and big. It is very spacious, and the outer design is really nice. The pickup speed is also a plus.
