Comfortable and spacious!
As an honest reviewer, I am going to first give a summary, then some pros and cons of this vehicle.
Firstly, I purchased the 2026 Hyundai Kona Sport model. The Kona is more roomy than I expected and is one of the most comfortable drives I have ever had. My family members and friends have also commented on how the passenger seats are extremely comfortable to ride in as well! It has a massive amount of comfort features, both modern and a little more classic, and is SMOOTH on the road. Potholes are no longer something I have to be scared of biting my tongue while driving over!
With that being said, there are some features that are a bit lacking, hence why I did not provide a full 5-star review.
Now to some specific Pros and Cons.
Pros:
Spacious
Lots of legroom
Comfortable - Seats aren't too firm or soft, and the heated seats are VERY fast!
Smooth ride
Lots of amenities and tech - Able to connect and customise a lot of personal preferences and apps on the dashboard! But there are limitations...
Driver assist (both a pro and a con)
Cons:
Cup Holders are way too small. As someone who packs around a 32oz tumbler or canteen ona daily basis for the gym and work, it would be nice to fit the bottle in the cup holders. Unfortunately, the Kona's cup holders are tiny and non-adjustable. I don't have anywhere to put my canteen...
The console room is very limited. It barely holds a travel pack of gum and a pack of peanuts for an emergency snack.
Cannot change tones for the alerts - As high-tech as this rig is, I would have hoped we would be able to at least change the tones and alarm notification sounds. Unfortunately, it seems you cannot do that.
Driver assist - While this is good in many aspects, it will try to fight you. For example, the auto lane assist will try to pull you back into a lane, even if you are being directed through mid-lane traffic in a construction zone. The pull is significant and sudden, so it's almost caused me to KO a few road cones.
AC and Heater - The heater is a bit lacking. The AC is great, but the heater doesn't get as hot as I would like. The AC and HEater also lack some power, which for me is a bit of a negative. I like being blasted with air, but this blows gently. It's more of a personal negative than an overall negative.
Radio Volume - The radio volume is severely lacking. Firstly, you have to go into the dashboard's internal settings to adjust the base volume output. It is running at the standard level of around 50%. Even at 100%, the volume isn't great. Sometimes I wanna turn up that one song on the radio and poorly belt it out like I'm about to be kicked off of American Idol, but it has never been able to reach that level of volume that any of my older vehicles have been able to. Again, a personal negative, and I can understand the safety aspects of a lower max volume, but still...
Headlight Highbeams - The default for the LED high beams is "auto detect," and trying to disable it is a chore. Even just using the standard controls is like trying to get a combo in an old arcade game. I HATE LED headlights anyways, but new vehicles all have them so I'm stuck... It's also illegal to have high beams on while on the highway/ inerstate, so IDK why this "auto" feature is the default.
