Great car, not so great dealership experience
What I like most about this vehicle are the interior, the exterior design, and the hybrid powertrain.
The interior feels very premium, and while design is subjective, the exterior gives off a bold and confident presence.
The cabin is also spacious, and the seats are comfortable, making it an ideal car for a family.
That said, it’s not without its drawbacks.
First, the recall related to the power seats was disappointing.
In my case, I had my dog in the car seat, and while driving, I accidentally pressed the seat control button on the screen from the driver’s seat. This caused the seat to fold unexpectedly, forcing me to stop abruptly.
Fortunately, I was able to quickly reverse the action, but it could have easily turned into a dangerous situation.
Second, my experience with the dealership was very disappointing.
I purchased the vehicle from Rick Case Hyundai, and I found the staff to be inattentive and the follow-up service inadequate when issues arose.
The day after purchasing the car, I noticed that even the floor carpet had not been properly installed. This is the first time I’ve ever encountered such a basic oversight when buying a new car.
One of the more frustrating incidents involved a scratch on the front windshield that I discovered right after purchase. I returned to the dealership the next day, and after briefly checking it with their fingernail, they told me that if the scratch doesn’t catch a nail, it is not covered under warranty.
After I complained, they took the car to the service center and attempted to polish it, but nothing changed. They then simply brought out what appeared to be a glass cleaner and rubbed the area with a sponge. I honestly don’t understand how anyone could believe that a scratch on glass could be removed with a cleaning solution—something even a child would know is ineffective.
In the end, I had to find a professional glass repair specialist myself and get it fixed, then bill the dealership. It took nearly two months just to get reimbursed, which was extremely frustrating.
What’s even more disappointing is that the salesperson who sold me the car has been very difficult to reach. It feels like once the sale is made, the relationship ends.
I will not be returning to this dealership again.
