i love my 2023 Santa Cruz

great little truck i have thoroughly enjoyed. wish it had the rear air vents on the back of the console. Tires have been a problem with flat spots and noise since day 1. When i first bought it they were rebalanced and it helped but it has gotten worse lately - will replace them soon and will go with a different brand.

Really not enough room in the bed to haul too much. My wife loves the Santa Cruz, but I wish I got a full size pickup.

Hot little ride

Good height entering cab which was my priority. Same room as an average car with the feel of a luxury truck. Bed size equals my outback. For me the cover on the bed was a necessity. Good gas mileage on a trip. 430 per tank average. Around town 350 per tank.

Good Value and Some Compromises

Overall, we have been satisfied with the vehicle. I was looking at the Tacoma and Maverick. The low cost Maverick didn't exist, and didn't look as good. The Tacoma cabin wasn't near as nice for the same money. Our Santa Cruz Limited has every option for the same money of a base Tacoma 4X4. Capability of course may be different, but you can't beat Santa Cruz's ride, comfort, options, and gas mileage. One concern is the DCT. It is clunky at low speed; and after 37K miles, it's intermittently slow/delayed in shifting from reverse to drive. Another item that needs improvement is the turbo lag. Power is great, but a two or three count is needed before you feel it. With all that being said, I would buy another one.

My 2023 Santa Cruz

I have enjoyed driving the truck, it’s easy to park, back up and drive short or long distances. I have running boards, love the looks, hate getting in and out of the vehicle. Haven’t tried it with a dress, can say it would be graceful.

2023 Santa Cruz

Our Santa Cruz has been perfect for us. It has the comforts and smooth ride of an SUV, and even though the bed is small compared to a standard pick-up, it is constructed to handle most of our needs. I have hauled 2x4x8's, and full sheets of plywood. We have taken it on road trips to the coast, and have taken it camping in the mountains. It's a great all around vehicle.

It's not a PICKUP TRUCK

It looks good. It drives like a SUV. It's got advanced safety features. Just don't use it like a pickup truck because it is not. I had the audacity to think that I could haul my weekend project of pavers on the bed so I went to Home Depot and bought 3 50lb bags of sand, 25 12x12 cement pavers(about 500 lbs) and 30 8x4 brick pavers(about 200lbs) and the bed dropped about 4 inches that the wheel wells are almost touching my rear tires. It says in the manual the haul capacity of the bed is 1000 lbs so it should be able to handle 850lbs but it is not a pretty sight! I guess I can rent a trailer and just tow it because the manual does say it can tow up to 5000 lbs. I did forget to mention, to tow a trailer I have to get a tow hitch installed because it did not come with it. Most pickup trucks and even small SUVs come equipped with a tow hitch but not my 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz. Worst of all, my thermostat gave up at 26000 miles and I had to have a new transmission installed at 30000 miles. I probably just got a lemon. I do like the ride quality and I still got the occasional comments of how my Santa Cruz looks unique. It is not a pickup truck!!

Not a good fit for me

Coming from a RAM, trying to downsize for economy, I hated this car. In fact I no longer have it. The vehicle and technology is great, but the cockpit is just too small for a bigger guy like me. Also like the roll up armored bed.

It's nice but needs improvement.

The touch screen doesn't respond to touchy easily. Needs a better air condition, doesn't cool that well. Very noisy with the sun roof open (with the rack on top). Needs a little longer bed, without having a wide turning base.

Almost perfect

I love this truck but have a few observations that need fixed. The biggest is the DCT transmission is hit or miss. It does hesitate and seems to have trouble staying in a gear, especially in traffic. Second is the App. This should be a life of the car deal, not a limited time for free. It does NOT cost anything for Hyundai to just keep it going. Finally, the app should send alerts that windows are down and allow them to be put up, and it MUST have the sunroof added to this application. No reason to not have this control, it is all electronic. VERY frustrating. Otherwise the truck is comfortable, gets good gas mileage, and is more than adequate for "truck things".
