Misleading tow capacity

This vehicle was everything I wanted, except due to Hyundai's misleading tow capacity, I had to sell this vehicle and purchase a Chevrolet pickup. Hyundai rates this vehicle at being able to tow 5000 lbs, but hidden in the small print, deep in the manual, is the tongue weight rating of 220 lbs. Due to this restriction, no reputable dealer would install a power lift for my wheelchair. I felt that this rating was in error as it is the same as the Tuscon, despite the rear suspension and body being entirely different. I was basically ignored with my inquiries about this, a case was opened but I never got a response. There are many complaints on the web about this misleading tow capacity, any towing expert will tell. you tongue weight must be 10 to 15% of tow weight. This effectively restricts the Santa Cruz with the turbo to effectively being able to tow only 2200 pounds. This was a very expensive issue for me, to upgrade to a capable truck.

I like the way it handles

most difficult problem is the number of icons used in the vehicle. The size is great for my need's gas milage is fantastic. My only concern is it surprises me, when driving down the highway i do 55 to 60 miles per hour tops. when the highway speed increases the truck also dose it but on its own without warning. Keep in mind that older drives such as myself (80 years old) are not very computer letteret. It would be nice if you would put some control knobs back in.

Brand new 2024 - starts rough; buzzing in cockpit on certain roads

i can't recommend a vehicle costing more than my previous Infiniti G37x yet having obvious defects and lesser quality. Very annoying buzzing in cockpit on Texas FM/RM roads but can't determine location. Runs rough on startup - dealer charged $400 for fuel flush and then the vehicle ran more roughly. I notified the dealer and no response.

Nice truck for suburban living but it is missing some features.

I like the ride and the bed size is perfect for me but there are some features that are missing. One of the biggest is no memory seats and mirrors. I share with my wife so we are constantly adjusting. There should be proximity sounds as you near obsticals, my last 3 vehicles had it and it is hard to get used to not being there. No power rear window, I used it a lot on my previous trucks. The sound system is ok but I wish it was better. The adaptive cruise control is way to slow to react to changes, when an obstical appears that requires slowing the vehicle reacts fairly well but when the obstacl moves out of the way it takes 6-8 seconds to resume the original speed. that is a lot of time at 75mph. The automatic braking is scary at times: on a 4 lane highway in the mountains, there was a sharper than normal curve in the highway, the sensor picked up the semi in the lane on my right side and slamed on the brakes at 60mph. both the semi and I were within the lines of the highway. The lane keep feature is not good, The stearing wheel vibration is so slight you don't even feel it most of the time. The technician told me it is working properly. The calendar does not work on the infotainment. when we are on long vacations we use a calendar a lot but we have to check the phone instead of the dashboard. I will buy a new vehicle in 2026 or 2027; I like the Santa Cruz but if some of these features are not added or not improved I will try a different brand.
