2025 Hyundai Tucson SEL PHEV convert from 2000 Toyota Camry
My sister bought a 2025 gas Tucson and suggested I check them out. My 25.5 year old stick shift Camry was still great, but starting to burn oil. The Rav4 Prime was on my radar, but my Toyota dealer told me a test-drive required a non-refundable deposit of $2500. Loyalty is overrated! I contacted a local Hyundai dealer regarding a Tucson SEL PHEV and they suggested I come in for a test drive. The one they had in stock was the Limited, but could get the SEL in about 2 months. Thrilled, I happily gave a refundable $500 and put my name on the list. Surprisingly, I received a call in a week telling me the car was arriving a month early. They treated me like a queen and I got a fabulous car for $10k less than the RAV4 Prime....Let me tell you about this fabulous car:
The 2025 Tucson SEL PHEV is fun to drive, has excellent handling, and stops on a dime (almost literally). It is a gasoline hybrid engine first, with an electric battery option thrown in. I plug it into a regular wall socket and it is fully charged in 5 or 6 hours. When it runs out of battery, it switches to hybrid. The Infotainment center (dashboard screen) is intuitive and easy to navigate. I have never had so much information about my car at my fingertips. The Bluelink App on my phone makes it easy to check on my car and access information from the owner's manual - and you also receive an actual printed owner's manual (nearly 2 inches thick of information - I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!).
It's easy to maximize the use of the 34 miles of battery energy and regenerative braking. You never have to plug it in if you don't want to, but why wouldn't you? Freedom is having fuel choices. It has a range of about 452 miles - more than enough for me to go anywhere. If I ever get nostalgic, I can always drive my husband's 1997 Honda Accord stick shift. But, that may not be for too much longer - he is eyeing the Ioniq SUV.
You can't go wrong with the 2025 Tucson SEL PHEV.
Fuel options, perfect size, easy to park, maneuverable, responsive, large cargo area, and fun to drive!
