Luxury but with too many bells and whistles
I have the 2026 Genesis GV70, in Ceres Blue, which I ordered in March 2025. It's a beautiful car and drives even better. I like that it is a heavy car. I definitely feel safe in it. There are so many gadgets, most of which I don't know how to use. I try to use the booklets to learn how to use things, but it doesn't have an extensive index, so it's difficult to find directions. Instead I google how to adjust things. I do have a few complaints. I think the 2026 was rushed to market. I already have had 2 issues. One is that the brakes squeaked whenever they were wet or it was very humid outside. It felt like I woke up the entire neighborhood when I left for work in the early morning. I am embarrassed just thinking about it. I'm sure people were wondering what was going on as I had the new fancy car in the neighborhood. I had the brakes looked at in August 2025. I was told by the Genesis dealership in Louisville KY that it was a "known issue" and that they were producing a new part to correct the squeaking. I was told that the part would be ready in 30 days. That was 9 months ago, and no one has ever called me or given me an update on it. During the winter months, the squeaking subsided, but we are moving into a very rainy spring and a humid summer. I also got a recall about an issue with the display that could affect alerting me to any issues with the system. It doesn't matter whether the display is 27" or 2". If it isn't working properly, that's a problem. It's my first luxury car. The seats are the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in and it's a pleasure to drive many hours, with zero back pain. However, along with the luxury, comes the luxury gas. Right now I'm paying about $5.09 for premium gas. I stay home a lot. My display has never shown better than 24 mpg. A lot different than my Honda Civic that got almost 40 mpg. Also initially my car insurance skyrocketed, but my premium just came down by a couple hundred dollars. So I was happy with that. Overall it's a very nice car but it's very expensive to drive.
