This vehicle is a better overall value than any of it's competitors
I previously owned a 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Blue which I loved. That car would get 60 or more mpg with ease while driving normally and not trying to get max mpg. My 2023 Hyundai Elantra Blue is a very nice car. I loved the rear suspension. It is a 4 dr. sedan and not a 4 dr. hatchback like the Ioniq. But it has essentially the same plateform, same engine/transmission/electric motor set up. The Elantra has different wheels and tires and is a sportier looking vehicle than the Ioniq. But the Elantra does not get the mpg of the Ioniq. It perhaps gets 5-6 less mpg in warm weather and perhaps 10-15 mpg less in the cold weather than the Ioniq. This is the main disappointment I have. I was disappointed that I could not purchase a new Ioniq in 2023. The Ioniq had different wheels and tires and that must be the main reason for the difference in mpg between the two vehicles. The Elantra is maybe 200 lbs heavier and that shouldn't make much difference in mpg. Overall the 2023 Elantra Hybrid Blue is a very nice vehicle. On well paved roads it handles very well. Not quite as good on less well paved roads. Mpg in warm weather is very very good but in cold weather it is disappointing to me as it does not do much better than a non hybrid Elantra. Interior comfort is quite good and 2 to 4 hr. drives are not a problem. The HD radio, XM radio, sound quality is quite good ........but highway noise is somewhat a problem. Ability to use Apple Car play, other media, blue tooth, etc is very important to have and is acceptable.
