My new Hyundai Elantra with about 2,500 miles gave out on February 12

I liked the car which I bought in December of 2025. On February 12 I was taking my girl friend to the eye doctor when all of a sudden the car froze up and I was stranded in Winsted CT across from the Ollie Store. I called AAA who towed it at no charge to the dealer in Torrington. Then I arranged for a taxi to take us to Enterprise Rent a Car where I rented a car for $116.74 in order to take my girl friend to the doctor. The taxi cost $30.00 plus a $5 tip. As of tomorrow the dealer will have had the car for two weeks and have been unable to fix it.

Nice but too long and big with uncomfortable seats for long drives

LONG DRIVES ARE TERRIBLE, ALWAYS STRETCHING ; YOU HAVE TO HAVE A CUSHION FOR YOUR BACK AND ITS TOOOO LONG, MAKE ONE SMALLER! THERES A LOT OF HYBRID CARS THAT ARE SMALLER AND EASIER TO MANEUVER

Got T-Boned at 45mph, minimal injuries

I loved this car, got it mid December 2025, unfortunately someone hit me and completely totalled the car. I made it out of the car with only a bruised abdomen and hip pain.

Very smooth ride and great value

The high mileage per gallon is just one reason I am very pleased--it is comfortable and easy to handle. Hyundai warranty and service are excellent reasons this is my 2nd Hyundai Elantra, although my first hybrid vehicle. I recommend for regular drivers like myself who prize good value above high-priced status symbols that require a lot of regular mechanical visits and support.

Mpg

I have enjoyed to Elantra hybrid. It is great looking at the dash and seeing 50+ miles per gallon. It seems that it does not like the cold because it hovers around 40 in the winter.

Fun car.

The positives. It has been a fun car to drive with decent fuel milage. It has power to pick up when needed. I like that the driver's compartment feels like a racecar and when you flip to sports mode everything goes red and just looks mean. The negatives. Not really built for a big guy. Does not get close to the 50 mpg as advertised in winter in NY. Maybe summer will be better. Colder weather has knocked down the mpg's. Didn't come with interior placemats, and the carpet seams to be soaking up salt, even under the drivers seat where my feet never touch. Need a wire for Android Auto in a 2025 vehicle.

first three months

vehicle is very comfortable. Mileage is less that I expected it to be and the engine races when first starting up and accelerating in the cold weather. The infotainment screen is difficult to use and to make adjustments. I knew it did not have a fold down cup holder in the rear seat, just didn't realize how much I miss having it.

Affordable, efficient and with all the basic modern features.

Overall, this is a great car. My first new car and I am happy with the purchase. It gets great gas mileage, has all the basic modern features. Only negatives: car tends to rev to high RPM when the gas motor is engaged and starting up hill, sometimes like it’s not engaging the drive train. In the cold, the mileage really suffers.

Great car so far (American companies take note)

I bought this car a bit over 2 months ago. I have a bit over 5k miles on it right now. One mid sized road trip put around 1500 or so of those on. The rest came from usual commuting and driving for errands etc. When it is warm the car has done better than 50 mpg even with highway driving, the cold has knocked it down to the mid to high 40's. Great ride, comfortable seating, easy to use tech. Got around the lack of wireless android car play with a $20 device. I have taken people in my back seat and they found it comfortable too. It is mystifying to me that this car isn't advertised more , the sales would increase greatly. The price point was impressive. US car companies please take note, you should be building cars like this. I had bought American for decades but you literally stopped selling sedans. Kia K5 in 2021 (sadly I totaled it) and now this car. I would buy American if you sold stuff like this.
