Disappointed in Hyundai Customer Service
I’m hoping Hyundai can provide a goodwill gesture for an issue that was discovered on my 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz on July 31st, 2025. I purchased my Hyundai Santa Cruz from the Hyundai Escondido dealership on January 22nd, 2023, so I’ve had my Hyundai for a little over 2 1/2 years and the mileage on my vehicle is 49,138.
On July 31st, 2025, I had a dash cam installed at DV Audio in Escondido. After the dash cam was installed, I was informed by the staff that there was rust build up on the left side of the inside dash board panel. I have the pictures if you’d like to see them. After being told about the rust build up, I immediately drove to Hyundai Escondido to show the service department what the issue was. I spoke to Brandon Martinez who informed me to schedule an appointment, so that the service department could look at the rust buildup.
On August 19th, I brought in my vehicle to the service department to look at the rust build up. After having my car there for several hours, Brandon Martinez called me and informed me that they found that the drip tube was disconnected at the sunroof and implied that the disconnection was caused by DV Audio, which contributed to the rust build up.
DV Audio did not have to tell me about the rust build up on July 31st and I probably would not have known about the rust if it wasn’t for them. From the time DV Audio identified the rust issue on July 31st to the time I brought in my car to Hyundai on August 19th, there is no way the rust build up could have occurred in that time frame. The amount of rust on the side of the dash board had to have occurred ever since I purchased the car on January 2023 to when the rust was discovered on July 31st, 2025. The disconnection of the drip tube had to have happened before the date I purchased my car because I didn’t even know that there was a drip tube at the sunroof.
I’m asking that the rusted parts be replaced because this rust build up happened due to no fault of my own and was not caused by the installation of my dash cam. If it wasn’t for DV Audio informing me about the rust, I probably would have never known about it. I’d appreciate it if you would take care of this issue. Thanks for your time.
