Solid vehicle in many ways but more to be desired in others
I've been following this generation of Santa Fe ever since the model's launch around 2019, to be even more delighted by the facelift's design changes. Overall, I have no REAL complaints but ultimately am disappointed by the lack of missed opportunities, notably with software. I purchased the Blue trim due to price and value, especially getting the hybrid powertrain's base trim which is equivalent around the SEL of the non-hybrid. I was happy that the model year I purchased (2023) included an HEV, which was actually news to me as the non-hybrid powertrains and their associated fuel econ was a huge disappointment and con to me, so I get the boosted fuel econ with the pros.
Maybe it's because this is a model from 2019 which isn't all that old, even though mine is the 2023 model year, it lacks a lot of potential software features. I understand some features aren't only software and actually do cost more to produce, but they're mostly software. FOB features like the ability to roll down/up windows, the ability to make the vehicle honk when the doors lock instead of a weak chirp, undefeatable VDSS (reverse noise) blaring anytime the vehicle is in reverse, not having the side mirror auto-tilt feature when in reverse even though the mirrors are powered, not having wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto especially since the lower trims get it, not being able to lock the vehicle via any means when it is running except with the physical backup key, the lack of features and customization of the infotainment screen and fully-digital instrument cluster, no tachometer especially considering the transmission is a traditional 6 speed and the vehicle has paddle shifters, and there are probably a few others.
I do have complaints about other features such as the wireless charger not having any ventilation and overheating, effectively making the charger useless.
Otherwise I do enjoy what's given in this model year/trim/vehicle. The generous storage especially the underfloor although the 12V battery is in not the best, but not the worst location. Eight way power adjustable driver seat with 2 way lumbar support. The non-cheap look and feel of the overall cabin design (compared to economy vehicles) but for the price, it better not be all plastic.
For Hyundai in general, the warranties were a huge factor. I've heard horror stories about getting full coverage but luckily haven't had to deal with that. With about 18k miles, I haven't had any issues (yet).
