1st experience with Hyundai

My Hyundai Tucson Hybrid seems to be a quality vehicle. Have had it for two years with no mechanical problems although I only have put 18,000 miles on it. I like having the safety features (blind spot, adaptive cruise, lane monitoring, backup camera, etc). I also like the additional hp provided by the electric motor. The vehicle handles very well and I like the size.

I thought the mpg would be better.

My mpg is not living up to your sticker rating of 35/36 mpg. I get around 32 mpg and i live in a rural area.

Just the Right Size

I love so much about my Tucson. It is roomy enough for us in both the front and back seat. Many have commented on the generous leg room. The panoramic roof is stunning. The ride is smooth and comfortable. The stereo is great.

Great car - with quirks

Love this car, BUT..... - Engine makes a pinging noise similar to "engine knock" since car was purchased. Several trips to the dealer - am told engine is "within spec" - Smell of engine coolant under hood since car was purchased. Several trips to dealer - cannot resolve. - Intermittent rear turn signal error appears/disappears on dash, 6mo after purchase until now. several trips to dealer - cannot resolve. - Occasional depressing of the gas pedal to initiate motion results in a power "hole". No battery assist, ICE does not turn on quickly enough - feels like car "stalls" before taking off again. - Battery randomly activates 12v cut off. Started about 6 months ago - has happened 5 or 6 times since then. Pain in the rump to enter the locked car using the physical key within the fob to reset the battery cut off. In the shop now for this issue as well. Would expect some of these issues after 10 years, but not out of a new car. We were thinking of also purchasing a Hyundai all electric to replace our 2017 Chevy Bolt, but quite frankly, the Bolt has had no real issues and I am now gun shy of Hyundai.

It has everything you could possibly want-comfort, amazing gas mileage, reliability, pleasure to drive, quiet. It even takes regular gas!

No wireless CarPlay a big miss

That plus everything being USB-A makes the car feel outdated. Also small issues like foam coming out of windshield … lower quality car.

Excellent so far

Hybrid has great performance, good gas mileage in town but don’t expect anything over 25 mpg on highway trips going 65-75 mph because the battery is not engaged at those interstate highway speeds. The advertised 48 mpg is probably for 50 mph speeds.

Worth the wait

The 2023 Tucson Hybrid is a terrific vehicle, though I had to wait almost nine months after "requesting" it. Limited trim line has all the features I could need: smooth, comfortable ride, all the safety features, 360 degree cameras for parking and reverse driving assistance, rear-view cameras when using turn signals to change lanes. The pickup from the added electric motor has helped me avoid trouble on a couple occasions. My only two beefs are: old style analog speedometer instead of full time digital, which my Wife's vehicle has and to which I have become very happily accustomed; and lack of a spare tire. I've had two punctures which leaked slowly enough that I was able to get home using the inflator in the Tire Mobility Kit, and which could be patched. If that hadn't been the case, I could have been stuck for a long time, given the hit or miss results I've read about using the flat fixing compound in the Kit. Overall, quite happy with the SUV and consider it a close second in the list of favorite vehicles we have owned.
